My 99 frontier has been kicking out a code for the sensor since I inherited it 4 years ago. It's under the intake so alot of crap comes off to replace it.I now have coolant running down the pass. head. Guess it's time.
I'm the type of person that when you dig deep into something, replace all that you can't get to once it's back together.
Besides hitting the valve covers, heater hoses(I can see), spark plugs,I.A.C., Knock sensor, what else is under there to replace? I'm picking up the parts while a mechanic friend is doing the labor. I could do it but don't need my shop tied up for extended period since I'm wanting to hit Nellie Belle over the winter months plus body work on the 2fiddy. Love to have a list of replacement stuff so I can order the parts.

Have you done a timing belt and tensioner? It's actually a surprisingly easy job. If you do that, might as well do the water pump too since (IIRC) it's behind the water pump...and if you do the water pump, might as well throw a thermostat in it too. Plugs aren't too bad to do with the intake on, but since it's off...I'm with you there. My BIL had an Xterra for a long time and I think that's all I ever did to it and that was somewhere around 140k miles.

While you have the coolant drained...

If you're going to do a timing belt and water pump, get a Gates/Dayco/Continental timing belt component kit with tensioner and without the water pump (RockAuto, $40). Then buy a Hitachi water pump, which is excellent quality and is the OEM supplier for Nissan, (RockAuto, $65). Or Aisin (OEM to Honda and Toyota), but I'd get a Hitachi first for a Nissan.
If you've had it for 4 years, it's a '99, and you don't know off the top of your head when it was done last, do it.

Also, get accessory belts.

and don't forget idler/tensioner pulleys, radiator hoses,belts....all you mentioned plus that was done at 100,000 miles when a power steering pump went out. Im at 135,000 right now. I'm at that point in my life where I'm gonna try and not have a partial job done. If I can easily lay my hands on it,I might let it ride for a little while but it will still get changed shortly.
