WORKDAYS @ HORSEPOWER PARK (NEW PARK)

Maybe someone needs to go tell the new owners they are making a mistake with their property and their decisions are wrong. Obviously the previous owners were making so much money with the old setup that they had to sell before they made too much money.

LOL, very true. Not to mention the place was trashed so horribly bad, very unmaintained. It's a hot mess out there

plans are the hill climbs will be marked off with "red zone, winch/lockers required beyond " as other places have done so to avoid this type of a situation.

I see ya'lls point and makes total sense. Having that said, don't blame me for "ruining anything" lol, I'm just helping to execute a plan that was already set in motion!
Personally: I have nothing against dirt bikes/quad crowd! It's just they have tons of places to go, can fit anywhere and they pretty much got it made. We however, jeeps/trucks/buggies, have very limited places to wheel...especially in this area since the Shop first, now The Flats closed so forgive me if I can't share any "excitement" about that topic. There's 3 places to ride bikes and atv within 30 min of me. 0 places to wheel, until now, so yeah I jumped on the wheeling wagon opportunity when I heard about it and am very exited to get this place ready by April to all it's full glory and opportunity. For me it means more to have a place close to home since I have a wife who cannot travel on an average basis, and this place is close enough for me to go alone when her health is not up to par and that is like huge.
I don't blame anyone, it's business and not mine. The whole reason I got most of my "egg$" out of the 4x4 basket and into hare scrambles and hard enduros was places to ride. I can drive 2 hours or less to ride some of the most challenging stuff on the east coast on my bike, not so much in the jeep. New owners will figure out on their own where the money is. At every hare scramble the gate fee is $10 if you're over 8, for everyone that comes on the property doesn't matter if they are racing or watching their buddy and generally people don't show up to race by themselves. I'm pretty sure the land owner rakes all of that. Ever seen a 4x4 event even come close to raking that kind of coin?

Most venues are raced in Hare Scrambles as a supplement at an established motocross track or as a means for a property owner to squeeze out property tax money. Multi use. I don't think anyone really is pushing a bike agenda but comparing and expressing a valuable lost revenue stream.
I really want to see a place succeed. I would gladly pay for a area that fits my end use. But not failing may require a more open mind set.

Some have first hand observed these other venues come and go. With that some learning was available to all. Financially it just doesn't make sense to shut out a willing custmer base without a verified ace in the hole. Given the track record of small similar venues and even larger land areas I wouldn't be approaching some of my customer base with deaf ears.

For all we know these folks are loaded and just spending money to make money. Could be a sink or swim "right off". I doubt either of these due to the willingness to use volunteer labor.

We really need to get an NC4x4 Dirt Bike ride going sometime, my new Beta needs some more abuse.

Side note, somebody buy my 2012 KTM 150.

I would assume the new owners did their research before buying a business/track. They have national connections in the industry. If I were going to buy a business I would want to see the books. Insurance rates, gate sales, P and L report etc.

I'm at Brushy mt or Brown mt just about every weekend.

We did brown about 2 weeks ago. I used to be there probably once a month but got burned out by driving 3 hours each way so often. Right now working on getting the gf up to speed on dirt before we hit brushy up again, but I might come out there soon.

Really before I go the Xtrainer needs a rear tire worth a shit, the stock one is awful, it wouldn't hook well at all at brown.

How you like that Xtrainer? Me being a short, lazy bastard, I could see it being a good fit for my next bike.

It is amazing so far. Only put about 3 hours on it though. I got a 2020, and likely about to pick up another one for the GF. The only thing about it, is the suspension isn't great if you are heavier, but AMP can set it up really good. However since I am a skinny fuck, it works great for me. I'm only 5'7" and my KTM had a low seat on it, and offset PDS bushing, my gf is about an inch shorter than me, is comfortable on it, as it sits, it is already a little lower than my KTM

Which KTM? Freeride?

hey just to clear the air, I'm not saying at all that they aren't or won't...I just stated that they're wanting an Off Road park made through out all the woods and that is what we're working on...weather or not that helps or hurts "potential" wood races...I don't know anything about that. anything I have stated otherwise was a personal opinion or thought.

I can assure you that is not the case. I'm not going to get into the "volunteer" aspect of the work...

I was out there for the Carolina Dirt Slingers bash in 2013, they had a little oval off road course and the hill climbs. IIRC, we did all of the 4x4 mud pit and 4x4 course in about 30 minutes. Looking for the video i have but it may be on my sons phone.

Not to dig up a corpse, what happened with this place?

Where is it located?

In morganton, it's all 4wheelers and sxs mostly with monster truck shows and other racing events.

So never turned into a 4x4 park?
Not really, the focus became more on what I mentioned previously. They do have some crazy hill climbs and mud fun lol that's about it. Not worth hauling a rig out there unless you bring a different toy to play as well
