Anybody planning to wheel on opening day, Wednesday, April 1st? I could be talked into wheeling the 2nd or 3rd if anyone is interested. Just bought another Jeep and want to get it out in the woods. And I don’t really want to wheel on opening weekend.

I also got a new Jeep recently. Have not been to Uwharrie for almost 3 years but wheeled there a lot before that. I'd be up for Thursday or Friday (2nd or 3rd) during the daytime. I like to go out to the trails from about 9AM until 1 or 2 PM. What time did you have in mind?

I like y'all's optimism. I figure the odds of a government employee unlocking a gate are somewhere between zero and negative ten.

I own bolt cutters, a plasma torch, and an inverter to run said plasma torch. The gates will be open on opening weekend.

Can yall tell I am ready to go camping?

Plus I have some left over jeep parts I figure I will be able to sell to the "new" jeep owners when in need...

I'd like to go, but all campgrounds are closed, not that we need campgrounds but it's a good indicator that the whole place will be closed.

Public beaches are closed, but if someone hears URE is open let me know.

@rodney eppes I thought the same thing too. Maybe it’s written to be ambiguous so if they don’t open up nobody can be blamed

Just curious, but would yall not actually ride the trails after the opening date because of the forest service not opening the "gates" ?

Just saw on FB 4x4 trails closed til at least may 15. Two people in a rig is too close but I think you can still take 50 of your closest friends on a group hike or horse ride

Yup. Like it or not (I don't) it's what we got.

The Horse Camp was closed when the rest of the Campgrounds were closed. I would think All Trails, are now closed.
I doubt there are many folks that can ride their horse to the trails, without use of the Camp.

I saw a post on FB last week that the camps were closed but they had a parking area open and trail riding still allowed. Not sure if that's changed since last week.

Mostly being sarcastic.

They claimed the biggest reason for keeping ohv trails closed is to keep from pulling valuable first responders away from coronavirus to tend to hurt wheelers. So apparently mountain bikers, horse riders and hikers never need assistance.
