I mean the syntheitc rope is worht $100.
The fairlead is worth $40 and the remote another $50 or so

I figure the winch itself has to be worth $100, right?

30 day warranty. I don’t know how you could go wrong.

I don't either. That's why I asked on here.

Kinda like part time four wheel drive? Neverfully understood that phrase. But here we must have a "part time winch".

Don't buy a Warn VR unless you're into $550 bumper ornaments.
With that said, what's the scoop on TSC Traveller? Asking for myself.

I've got the 10k traveller on my gooseneck. Had it for 3 years or so. Doesn't get much use but seems to do fine. I personally only run Warn xdi's on the trail rigs, and have never been let down yet. I'd rather buy a used warn then a new off brand, but couldn't find one for the trailer when the original ramsey took a dump.

East Winston has the best deal on wenches around here, oh you said winches, my bad
Since we're talking wenches...

Warren or bust.

For the price, you can find XD9000s on Marketplace for $400 bout all day long. Bought my 9.5cti for $400 a couple years ago and love it! They're not rated at 12k#, but I'd rather have it than some off-brand, personally.

I had a WARN M8000 for years. Failed twice in 2 years. Motor died then the second motor the post broke form the internal wiring. That motor was a year old. WARN would not warranty it out either. I have had 2 different people have the VR series fail on them. IMHO Warn is selling on their rep and not building it like they use to. I have bought two SMittybuilt x20 winches and both have worked well and not failed yet. The one on my jeep gets abused weekly pulling up stumps and down trees. It's about 3 years old. Maybe 4 now. My next winch will be a Smittybuilt.

I've heard ppl having good luck w/ the Smitty's and I've heard they've come a long way. I just don't have any experience with them. I almost bought a X2O 10k but then found my cti for a steal and haven't been disappointed. Also scooped up a freshly rebuilt 8274 a few years back from @skyhighZJ and it's been sitting in the shed ever since waiting for a good home (no, it's not for sale...a good home is another rig of mine, just not sure what yet).

How much for the 8274? :flipoff2:

For a trailer or a side by side it'd be hard to beat.
For a trail rig id find an 8274.
Since you dont wheel, buy 2

The parts you traded me for are holding the same status in my garage. Getting ready for use here shortly though.

Warn priced their good winches out of the average user market. XD9000's, XP9.5's, M12000's etc that most of us can remember being THE winches to get are now north of 1k, and a new 8274 is north of 2k, so they had to make some more "affordable" winches to keep relevant in the market. Like most of y'all I haven't heard anything good about the VR series, but I've heard decent things about their Zeon series though. We have an old smittybilt on our trailer and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another. I'm also interested to see how the HF Apex handles long term. So far they look like a contender for best cheap winch.

Anybody ever.......

How much do I despise a Warn VR?
Well, I just gave it away to somebody.
I can't stand shit that don't work.

HF or TSC? I get off work at 5.

Have a rebuilt (verdict still out) 9.5ti on the Jeep... that replaced (rebadged/de-rated by 50% REP8000 Ramsey) "Northern Tool 4K" which went to the trailer.
Just bought/installed (unused at this time) Badland ZXR5000 for the Viking.
