Warn m15000 stuck drum

I recently acquired a warn m15000 that the cable has been pulled all the way out and got stuck. 5 years later I buy a new motor and take apart the selector end. The drum won't turn with motor off and gear reduction off. What am I missing? Thanks

I had the same issue, my brake inside the drum had come apart and was locking in both directions.

Mine was a different brand but those drum brakes are all pretty similar from what I read about when fixing mine. Once you get the winch apart the drum is hollow and has a rod going through it and the brake and it all just slides out one side.
