Random Thoughts.....

Oh you’re still paying me till September full time then a little less for the rest of my days walking the earth after that lol
I think you're just reinforcing his point

Craigslist is FAWKING DEAD.

This sucks. I might have to break down and join Failbook for marketplace or whatever it is.

If you follow one of the links from here in the FB marketplace finds of the day thread on a PC, you can then search from there without logging in.
Correct, you don't need a FB account to browse ads.
You do however to communicate w sellers.

I just always bug one of the guys at work to get a phone number if I make it that far. You used to be able to go straight to the marketplace and browse, but now it takes you to a login. I haven't figured out any other way around that yet. Do you know of another way?

People act like FB is the end of the world. Actually its not, if you dont like to scroll useless crap then dont, but for interest related topics it's freaking great. I'm in Jeep Groups, Jeepster groups, Willys groups, Fridge groups, landscape, pesticide, and lawn groups, wolf groups, arrowhead groups, etc., It can be just like here, with people bringing knowledge to the game, not BS. Just like in real life filter out the BS! It's a wonderful resource if you'll just manage yourself on it.

You could get all of the exact same via forums just like this... w/o having to give up your privacy to a single company and deal with as many yahoos.
And the info is actually searchable and in a format that is useful for finding later.

Ignoring privacy concerns, this is the functional problem with Facebook. Often I search for tech info on various things, and it either comes up in an early 2000s website, or on a forum. Never a useful result on Facebook.

yes alot of groups are full of alot of useless people and information. there are a few that im on that are good, (the roof palmino page (jeep mower) is a great page) also market place is about the only place i can find anything for sale now. i dont pos anything on my facebook page.

Does that work for you? It doesn't work for me. It asks me to login.

It does but only on a PC, not on mobile. When I open the link for something someone has posted I have a search bar on the left hand side. I can type in whatever I'm looking for and then browse the results.

Craigslist ain’t what it used to be, but I just bought a gmc 3500 van with a running 6.0 off Craigslist for basically scrap price. It was posted in the farm and garden section. Also found a smoking deal on an 04 Cummins 6 speed 4x4 for @ramjo not too long ago too. The volume of items definitely isn’t as much as it used to be, but you can still find deals every now and then.

I don’t have FB but I’ll browse marketplace on my work PC and if I need to get in touch with someone I’ll use my wife’s account. I also use her account to post stuff for sale occasionally too.

Hmm, doesn't work on a PC for me either. Any time I click a link it takes me to the login page.

For sure, CL is not what it used to be but to echo @jcramsey deals can still be found. You just have to wade thru the crap, scammers and dealers posing as owner sellers. Found my son's WJ on CL for a good deal. However marketplace was the place I found my Class C for another really good deal.

I still find the best deals on Craigslist, FB marketplace is garbage if you are searching for something specific.

My Cummins mega cab came off Craigslist, I found it 30 mins. After it was posted. I would venture to guess, that Craigslist seems to have fewer deals because the good stuff moves quick (both because of motivated sellers and buyers).

Not sure how the FB algorithm works, but they have obviously not shown me something I searched for, and a week later it would pop up (being a week old) when I searched for it.

Visiting my sister for my nieces B-Day party.
One of her friends was this sweet young kid I knew growing up who went full bore PHD in Western Philosophy and a professor...you can probably guess her political leanings.

Knowing that Im a gun guy and carrying when she hugs me she intentionally runs her hand along my hip and says "Something never change"..I just winked and said 'Nope'
Well...this leads later to a conversation that was a meme played out in real time.

'My FIL is an avid deer hunter. He says AR-15s re horrible hunting weapons.'
'I'd agree. Id never deer hunt with one though I know some that do.'
'Well then what possible good could come from them? Why not just ban them?'
'Interesting to consider what is going on in Ukraine currently. AR-15 are much better people killers than they are deer killers.'
Do you really think you and even 1,000 of your buddies are going to hold off the US Army with Ar-15s? They will have tanks and such. Where does it end. You dont think you should be allowed to own a tank do you? Do you?!?
'You said yourself that an Ar-15 wasnt sufficient to defend against the Army. There is that whole 'necessary to the security of a free state' bit we shouldn't concede to tyrants'

Have I been pronouncing the word "Humble" wrong all these years?

I don't know why, but I have heard several people this week say the word "Humble" but they pronounce it 'Umble"

One of the very few times I agree with what you say.
