(young) kids are pretty needy when they get home. The want a snack and to tell you all about what happened on the bus and who got in a fight at lunch and who picked their nose and how they don't like math but they do like reading and who smelled bad today and the funny thing Billy did but Jesse was being annoying and somebody got sick and they have a form to sign and oh yeah they really don't like math but reading really is fun and....and ...and.... there will be no peace.

But don't worry once they become Tweens they just come home and slam the door in their room and don't talk again until they say, "What's dinner?". Which is when they mumble something about a project due tomorrow thy expect help with, but it requires a thing they didn't bother to get yet.
