Guy called with a "complete" Caddi. Heath and I went down. Caddi was not complete. Price dropped. He didn't like it. He kept making phone calls for some reason. He finally accepted the price. We hooked the car up. He changed his mind. He said we could take a Nissan pickup instead. Nissan was not complete. Low price. He started begging. He started adding junk. Finally we reached a mutually acceptable price. We began to load it up.

A cavalcade of morons began to appear, each in varying stages of chemically altered consciousness. One nearly pushed me to far. His other moronic friends had enough of a brain to scurry him inside.

We left.

Idiot called this morning and asked if I wanted the Caddi. I hung up on him.

My 8 to 5 pays pretty well, I'm sitting in my bedroom at my WFH desk looking out the window, and I haven't encountered any crackheads in weeks!
Im gonna have to side with @UncleWillie on this one for sure. Dealing with the occasional Methany would be far more enjoyable than stuck behind a computer for a set number of hrs a day/week. Being trapped to a set schedule sucks. Money is cool but not at the expense of my sanity.

Yea I love the pay just hate the job.

In my opinion…the biggest lie ever told was ‘find a job you love and you’ll never work a day in your life’. There’s not a single one of us that don’t have a ‘number’ where we’d walk away mid-sentence. If I didn’t have responsibilities, like having stuff, like doing stuff and want to retire to a private island by 55…no way in hell I’d be doing what I’m doing.

I would kill someone if I was stuck behind a desk and had to answer to someone else. I need to be outdoors. I haven't had a boss for over 20 years now. (Don't tell Steph) Everything I own is paid for, we have everything we need, and have more fun working together. Plus whenever I want a day off, I take it.

Makes the morons almost bearable.

I saw a sticker on the way home tonight, gotta find me one like it...

we all answer to someone else, if we want to make money.

Your boss that day was the crackhead. You dealt with him cause he had soemthing you wanted. He was in control. I deal with my boss every day cause he has something i want.that signed paycheck.

You left and didn't make money. Same with me, I could leave right now, but I wouldn't make any money.

And thats fine for today, maybe tomorrow. but eventually we are all back working for someone.....unless we hit the lottery.

The beauty of doing your own thing though is you daily are in charge of who you work for.

You cant go and make them change your boss. Willie can choose who he works for.

But you are beholden to bringing in money, so you sometimes work for the crackhead you don't like because the dollars outweigh the annoyance. This is why having money doesn't buy happiness, but it does provide a certain level of freedom to choose.

Being a desk jockey will kill you both physically and mentally (unless you're just loving what you do), I've watched happen to people over many years. I'd pay to have my job when I was a kid after 34 years I still have no retirement plans. Best advice ever given to me was by my father a bank CEO, "Do what you love and if you're any good at it, the money will find you."

Freedom, low stress, making a lot of money... pick any two.
Yes the Venn diagram of these three has an overlap but it is very small.

I consider myself lucky to be in a marginal balanced between them. More like if you were to make this a 3d plot showing a plane I'd be right around the center.

And it's fascinating to me how different people would perceive 2 of the 3. From what I've seen relayed about your job, the bureaucratic red tape that comes with even bringing on an intern and knowing what .gov salaries pay, I would consider that anything but freedom and money, but pretty low stress.
