Been out of the loop for a good while.

Any local shops that can handle a high quality restoration (resto-mod) on a ‘66 CJ5 for me?

Want it like new with a few mods:

Cage, power steering, power brakes, 4-wheel discs, T-18 swap, twin stick the D18. Maybe a D44 front. Small lift 31”-33” tires. Few other small updates.

Was my wife’s Grandad’s Jeep and it will stay in the family, but we want to be comfortable taking some decent trips in it. Basically anywhere in NC, SC, TN, VA.

I’m in Greensboro, NC preferably a shop in NC or maybe SW VA.

Collin brothers in Texas is the best still around. Dennis Collin’s has restored hundreds and has tons of nos parts and repop. A buddy of mines grandad has a cj7 being redone there

His YouTube channel is pretty sweet.

Lonesome Pine motor works in Big stone gap VA.

man that is a super sweet CJ! Run and drive now?

and those collins dudes are 100% dooosh

who wears their own name on their t shirt?
Yeah I’m not a fan of Collins Bros.

I have some others guys in mind if I’m going way out of state. Hoping to find local.

It does run, kinda drive. I’ve driven it about 10 years ago when granddad was still living. No brakes at the moment and I’ve got to look into that. But it fires up fine.

It’s called pride in your name/ company. I don’t have any scratch but I’m proud of the company I work for and wear their swag both at work and out in town. Why? Because I get asked all the time what we do and I can get them referred to us. More money from advertising means we as a company grow, means I get paid.

He always seemed like such a D-Bag on the show so for that only fact I can’t recommend them

Collins brothers can do some excellent work, but their name carries a 20-50% price over any other similar quality work at other restoration shops. Dennis probably has a right to be proud of his success.
Reach out to Greg Slade at ReJeep, he may be able to do the unconventional restoration you are looking for. Rejeep Automotive | Timberlake NC

For just the drivetrain part I would reach out to Eli Lilach at #elifixesjeeps in near Richmond, VA Elifixesjeeps | Moseley VA

Slade…ain’t heard from that dude in a minute.

I remember sitting up drinking beer all night just philosophizing about life in Harlan once…good times. We were both shocked when the sun peeked over the hills
