My wife's family has a lakehouse on Hyco Lake northwest of Roxboro, near the NC/VA line, and there is significant flooding occuring up there. The lake is typically around 409-410ft above sea level, and peaked at 416.5ft earlier today. My wife and kids are up there this week for "Camp Hyco" as she calls it, and fortunately they are fine, but she has been sending me pictures of things and its pretty impressive.

Here's a "normal" lake level with their dock in the background:

Guess that's what an extra 6ft of water over the entire lake in about 12hrs will do.

Man, that storm dropped a lot of water.
 
I emptied my rain gauge in the morning before it started, emptied it when the eye came over about early afternoon then checked after most of it had past us. Gauge goes to 5” and was overflowing each time. Thankful there wasn’t much wind at our location. Hwy1 in Aberdeen is closed along with a lot of small side roads through town. East of town a couple of small dams topped and took out some roads and houses. It’s nothing compared to Helene or what happened in Texas recently but I think it definitely caught people off guard.
 
We got a lot of rain but not so much flooding as just north and south of us (Pittsboro & Moore County).

Some of my wife's family lives on Hyco, this was how they found their boats at 6am this morning. Her aunt took a pic of the dock against the bridge too but it looks like she took it with a potato.
 
4+ hours to get from the Greater Mayberry area to Butmoor last night. Usually a 2 hour trip. 40/85 Flooded between Haw River and Trollingwood. Only lane you could see pavement in was the shoulder. Did it again between the Hillsborough exits on 85N after the split. Water was up to the running boards in the dually.

Had a former coworker outside Roxboro have a tree come through their house…headboard on the master bed stopped it…while they were sleeping.

This storm had what lll just call the Helene effect again. It stalled and just kept dumping rain in one area vs moving. I was finishing up rolling a few acres of hay on Sunday morning before the rain hit. Or was supposed to. From where I was working I could see the outer edge of the storm sitting over Belews/Hanging Rock area. What was supposed to move our way by 10am became 2pm became never did more than drizzle by 6pm.
