Shop press recommendation

I used to have the 12 ton, I sold it and now have the 20 ton. Also went with the 20 ton air jack.
 
I’m not a fan of harbor freight on a lot of things, but on non-critical heavy metal stuff they are hard to beat, and a press certainly falls into that category. With that said, if you can find an old lady or someone’s kids selling off dad’s stuff, you can find some killer deals on the good old American off brand presses such as Lempco and KR Wilson. Dake is another great one, but they are more well known so most are overpriced and the good deals go really fast. Newer old stuff such as Enerpac, Amrox, Sunex, Ramco, Jet, and OTC have some nice offerings too.

I have a no name chang tier 20ton press from Amazon and I haven't died using it yet. I have only used it to press pinion bearings on a few dozen times setting up a diff though, and haven't gotten real stupid with it yet. I figured it's probably a lateral move from HF and it was actually in stock unlike all the HFs in the area.
 
I've had the HF 20 ton press for about 20 years. No regerts.

I've built thousands and thousands of axles with a $200 Harbor Freight 20 ton press. Hard to beat for the $$$.
I really WANT (not need) a bigger press with a higher table height, hi/low pressure handle and crank. But haven't found one at a price point I desire

20 ton HF press, did waterjet out some 1 1/4” thick plates to the dimensions on swag offroad site. Also have the heavier duty 20 ton fingered press brake and top plate parts to bend flat plate. They are awesome additions. Also going to make some knobs for the bottle jack.
 
I've had a HF press for years. I think its 20 ton. Haven't died yet because of it and I've shot some shit across the shop.
 
Another 20T HF press owner. Does it all. I keep mine in the shed with a variety of steel drops to use for pressing on/off. 6” c-channel, round tube, square tube, flat plate… all different diameters.

Also buy a gear / bearing puller while you’re at the store.
 
Showed up intent on getting the 20 ton. One was sitting at the door, thought hey they know me. Someone beat me to it, but they had a 12 ton. Between itc membership and the coupon I still came out $60 less than the 20 ton so I’m not too upset.

Will rebuild 2 transmissions in the near future and may regear after the manual trans swap
 
New, I'd go HF, but marketplace usually have several on there. As long as it's not bent. I'd then go ahead and put a pneumatic jack in it. Also, start looking around for some plate steel for different set ups. Also look for some really thick steel tube, of different sizes.

If I’m replacing bearings I pull the old bearings and grind a larger id on the inner race to make a press fixture
