Anyone got a lead on a locksmith that services the Mebane / Hillsborough of NC? I have called a bunch trying to get a roof rack removed and get a set of keys made....it seems like anything that can't be done with an air bladder is beyond most smiths I have called, it's been a real gong show.

FYI, no identifying details on the locks, it is a factory supplied rack on a car from the 90's, so ordering a key from a code is not an option.....I would prefer to get a key made so I can use them later, but I hate the whistle racks make and prefer to not carry them everywhere I go.

Watched many of his videos, ultimately this is a double sided key that is beyond what I can manage with what I have on hand. I have used a tennis ball and a bump key in the past with mixed results, but that isn't that kind of a lock unfortunately.

Not sure where you are exactly (I’m on harmony church myself) but there is a locksmith on mill creek close to gov Scott rd. I don’t know name or if worth a shit. You Can probably find a number if you look (and haven’t already called him). He has a flag at end of drive advertising locksmith.

This should be a pretty easy and quick job for any competent locksmith. I don't know any in your area exactly, but I have known the Marshalls for well over 25 years and they are a good family ran business in Raleigh.

I would have thought it would be pretty easy, but I have called half a dozen locksmiths, and had two try to pick the locks and no joy. The first guy claimed he was picking it with a special, double sided key, lock pick.....but he also claimed there was a key broken off in the cylinder because he couldn't get the pick in....when I asked if he could get the pick into any of the other cylinders....what do ya know....I guess keys are broken in all of them....

Good help is hard to find! Maybe I will look up the Marshalls....can't be anymore of a waste of time than everyone else.

Not sure what kind of rack you're talking about but if the lock looks it could be a common type lock used in other applications you can try file cabinet keys, truck tool box keys, outdoor weatherproof enclosure lock keys, etc., The are fairly interchangable. I carry a few for sprinkler systems and its funny that they sometimes work other locks.
