$150??? Say it ain’t so

8.8 is out and on stands. Old brackets have been deleted and ground down. Hoping tomorrow to get it over in front of the garage and maybe tack up the new brackets from IRO.

Baby steps Bob. Baby steps!

Don’t judge my welds too hard. I’m no perfeshunall. Had good penetration and seemed to show a good heat zone along the beads…..
After seeing the factory welds on my yj I’d say you’re better than stock. I also don’t understand why every bracket has to be 1/4” when that leads to a lot of installs not having good root penetration and the welds are what’s gonna fail first🤷‍♂️

Didn’t take a pic but I did “bevel” all the weld seams of the new IRO brackets. I’m only running a 110v Hobart so ran it as hot as I could and took my time. Guess time will tell.

Most people that buy from artec Barnes etc don’t even consider back beveling and it’s not uncommon to use a 110 welder rated for 3/16 mild steel so from a cost/ strength perspective 1/4 makes no sense except on lower control arms and trusses to me

Little axel swap progress tonight. Got the links bolted in and coil springs set. Waiting on brown (or purple &orange) Santa to bring the new adjustable rear track bar (rough cuntry) Then going Sat morning to get the new (old) tars for this pos.

Also: new front DS ordered with an u-joint and not the weak ass CV joint setup and a lube locker gasket for the 8.8.

Making progress in my book. YMMV

Showcase that Baja bug dude!

Also, osha approved use of magnetic coozies, no drinks were harmed in the making of this jeep!

I wouldn't worry about, 99.9% of the welds on my truck are done with a 110v hobart 140. No bus loads of nuns have died yet.

Pics in the dark are better than none at all? Went towards Charlotte this morning and now the turd is sitting on a set of matching rims and 33x12.50x15 BFG’s Thanks @Brianb2 . Front passenger fender was deleted on by PO. I trimmed and “massaged” the drivers side. Beating it on the trail should self clearance everything else! On a side note, she’s a bit high in the ass after the 8.8 swap but better than looking like I’m trying to scrape worms out my ass as the Carolina norm.

You could always throw some pucks on top of the front springs to level out the rake..

But she looks like she's ready to rock.
Maybe could but don’t want to push the short arms to anymore of an angle than they already are. I’ve actually never had a short arm lift so I’m really wondering what it’s actually capable of. I think tomorrow I may try to drive it up on some stuff and see what it’ll do. Probably should put some gas in it too. The “wife’s been driving it” alarm has been on since I drug this thing home from Fuquay after meeting @fourtrax lol

True. One nice thing about the JK is that I was able to get three inches of lift and just throw relocation brackets on the front arms to keep them at the right angle. I bash the crap out of them. But it's never been a big issue.

Speaking of things that will take a beating, that rear tailpipe looks like it's gonna get crushed about 30 minutes into the first ride...

Yeah I’m pretty sure I’m gonna have to chop the muffler and tailpipe and figure something out. The 8.8 diff has a good offset to the pass. side and I’m thinking the DS is gonna need to occupy that space. More to follow on that today.

If there is a long section of exhaust pipe running tucked up like the JK has, you could just chop it, throw on a flow master and let it roar...

I've been looking at doing that for mine.
