where to buy steel in the triangle

Sounds like it's about time for a RDU area group buy. :) The local place is named Dalton's over off of Poole Road if you need it immediately. But you're gonna pay!!! Price of steel is much cheaper elsewhere. Greensboro has a couple good places if you do a search on here of past buys. Bulk always brings the price down as well. I'll buy a couple of sticks if we get enough interest.

Unless split with another member. They will usually cut it if you want for like a buck a cut. I'm sure that could be arranged with this large of an interest. The material usually comes in 20' lengths. I bought a group buy on here once that the sticks were 24'. The person that set it up got a killer deal and we were only charged for 20'. I won't mention any names in case they aren't interested in getting involved but I think the thread needs to be reposted for outside of Raleigh as well titled "Group Buy" or something. Maybe one of those commercial buyers on here might be interested in setting this up for us? We definately have enough interest to get a much cheaper price.

Sounds like we definately need an organized type of person to get a list together though. I suck at my organization skills. Everyone knows somewhere different as well so there's a few phone calls to be made on a few majority items for cheapest price. Also need a runner. I'll gladly devote my time and trailer for the Raleigh area if we can split the gas as well. Guessing around $60-$70 or even better by the time you factor in a heavy load back. Around 12 mpg empty 8 loaded. I would prefer to drop the trailer off at somebody's house who is centrally located to watch over the load though. I live down close to Fuquay and that's not too centrally located.

1 stick 3"X 3/8" or maybe even 1/2" flat bar

i'll be wanting link material as well... 1 3/4 .25 wall. idk what your trying to get but if its the same maybe we could split a stick
 
he wants 2" .25 wall. Honestly chris, you may as well go with 2" too. Theres not really a huge point in building "upgraded CAs" if you dont upgrade the tube. Go with the 2" IMHO.

2" wont weld right to the bushings.. it'll overlap on both sides.. plus the nth and tera ones i had were 1 3/4.
 
I'm placing an order with BMG metals out of Wilson within the next few weeks ( shooting for 1st week of December )

I'm going to start a new thread and take requests to add onto the order.
