What have you done for your health today?

For my health… I decided to keep my cool today.

I’m walking into the grocery store when I see an older gentleman struggling to get out of his car. I think, “Alright, I’ll be a good human today” and head over.

Me: “Sir, can I help you with anything?”

Him, glaring like I just insulted his dog: “NO! I’m just slow. Leave me the F*** alone—I’m just slow!”

So I smiled, chuckled, and told him to have a nice day… instead of pointing out he didn’t have to be such a curmudgeon.

Small victory for my blood pressure

I am message #3,000, what do I win??

F3 three days in a row and my right knee is screaming!

Monday rucked with a 20lb pack for almost 3 miles.
Tuesday I led the workout, which started out with 15 pull-ups, then we ran 2 miles, stopping about every 1/4 mile to do 10 pushups, 15 atomic crunches, and 20 squats.
Wednesday was another beatdown involving lifting and carrying concrete blocks and a total of about 1.5 miles.

Doctor appointment went well Tuesday afternoon.
Christmas of last year ... 350 lbs. and diabetic, but not medicated. Metabolic specialist wanted to try diet first.
Tuesday .... 265lbs, A1C is 5! average glucose levels 97!

Have an Oct. appointment with the ortho sawbones for me knees now.

Don’t run much, I ruck on run days and also do the bootcamp workouts. The past few weeks I’ve missed a lot of workouts due to work. But today I left the ruck in the truck and I ran. Not too shabby considering this is only my 4th run the last 12 months.

I somehow managed to injure my left pec. Trying to work around it, but it’s making my life uncomfortable. My brain says layoff it for a few weeks, but I don’t want to lose dem gainz!
Drop the weight to 1/2-2/3 of your usual amount and move the weight slowly at half your usual speed for 12 reps? About 8 years ago I injured my shoulder and thought I was fawked. I refused to quit lifting and did the above and after about 3.5 months it came around and felt mostly better.

It has been 1 year since I reinjured my neck taking the seats out of my van. I'm better, but still not great. I still have bad neck pain about 2 days/wk and have to take muscle relaxers and lay on my living room floor for 30-45 minutes after work. I can't really lift weights much. I can only do light/medium dumbells flat bench press, and some bicep curls and tricep skull crushers or cable pull down. I cannot do any kind of pulling exercise like lat pull downs, chin ups, pull ups, dumbell rows etc. It really sucks. I've lost 20 lbs, but my belt is in the same spot. Shirts that use to fit good are now really loose. I spend more time on the bike and elliptical so my cardio conditioning is great.

I strained mine a few years ago. I was able to do close grip stuff without much pain. It put more load on the triceps and alleviated stretching of the pecs.

Further investigation reveals that it’s actually a nerve impingement in my upper back. Wifey has been helping me with nightly massages (sadly without happy endings) that have helped some. I’m going to get back to lifting, but avoid any back/pulling exercises for now. Hopefully it works itself out.

You need to add dead hangs to your routine. Shoot for 1-3 minute dead hang followed by stretching. That should help with the impingement

After barely riding mtb the past 4 months. A couple buddies convinced me to go to Greensboro and race. Longest bike ride I have ever done. I started off slow but kept placing better in each stage as the day went on. It was about 1:50 mins of racing total. Connectors didn’t count towards the time

Below 260lbs.
Total lost to date since Christmas of last year .... 90lbs.

Knee replacement number one takes place December 10th.

The wife and I did a thing today with about 10,000 other people. Ran in the Raleigh City of Oaks Marathon, I was in the top 50% for my age group and for the total participants in the marathon (I probably have 60-100lbs on everyone running, and it ain't all muscle!).....spent the rest of the day holding down the couch!

I didn't break any records, but I royally screwed my hamstring a couple months ago, so I am pretty pleased with myself for surviving.
