Thanksgiving day tradition ...

Dammit…

Been jamming on some records tonight. I was gifted my uncles records a couple decades ago when he passed.

It’s nothing shy of vinyl gold… found this today and will be played from now on.

What are the odds of owning this !

What are the odds of owning this !

Intrigued, so I took that question to Grok:

The odds that a random US household owns a physical or digital copy of Arlo Guthrie's “Alice's Restaurant Massacree” (from the 1967 album Alice's Restaurant) are extremely low in 2025 — probably in the range of 1 in 1,000 to 1 in 3,000 households (roughly 0.03–0.1%).

Even if we generously assume 2 million copies (physical + paid digital) were ever sold in the US over 58 years and that’s only ~1.5 copies per 100 households at the absolute peak. After accounting for:
  • copies that were thrown out, lost in moves, or destroyed,
  • buyers who owned multiple copies,
  • copies owned by institutions (radio stations, libraries),
  • the huge growth in the number of US households since 1967 (+80 million),
the realistic number of US households that still actively own a playable/copy of “Alice's Restaurant” today is almost certainly under 200,000, and more likely in the 50,000–100,000 range.
→ That translates to roughly 1 in 1,300 to 1 in 2,600 US households in 2025.
So, if you walk up to a random American door and ask “Do you own Alice's Restaurant?”, your odds are about the same as randomly picking someone who owns a vinyl copy of a mid-tier classic-rock album from the late 1960s — culturally iconic, but not actually sitting on many shelves anymore.

That said, I have the same LP you have.

Yeah. Several I think. Even have Kenny Rogers Christmas. Lol

Waylon, Dead, CCR… it is a treasure chest full. I randomly will swap out a stack for another stack and see what is in there. Always a good time.

So I use to participate in Record Store Day. Basically they have special releases only available from independent record stores. This year I decided to start back and go. Don’t hate on the Bruno.

If it has all the original inserts it's probably worth about $50 - $100 in great condition.
The outer plastic is still on it so everything inside is intact. Yard sale was many years ago and I actually pulled the album before people started coming. I wish I had not of sold all of my other albums. And last I checked it's worth about $200 today but its not going anywhere.

It’s sealed as in never opened?
