Calling all the Yota guys!!!

My clutch is fine but the rear main is leaking. I’m wanting to dig in and stop the bleeding before starting the 4 link.

What’s the go to clutch for a trail rig? I used to have a clutch built by a local shop (ceramic puck if I recall) but I’m not sure I ever really needed it but the damn thing would jump.

I don’t really want to do this again anytime soon… ever.

I’ve had my fancy stuff built and never regretted it, but had buddies drop in a Orileys clutch and beat it like it owed him money… lots of money.

What is the clutch to buy these days?

I have a marlin clutch in mine and like it. When I need a new clutch I'll probably just go with one from Toyota. Edit: just looked it up, and they only sell the 4cyl kit, so that made it easy to narrow down my options LOL

I will say marlin sent me a Chinese pilot bearing in their kit that seized on me and almost cost me a trans input shaft, amazing how much his kid has run that place into the ground.

What motor do you have?

I ran a LCE dual comp clutch and heavy weight flywheel in my 3rd gen 4runner years ago. It had plenty of grab offroad and decent road manners. Having been through half a dozen rigs since, I wouldn't spend the extra money on another one though.

I ran a parts store clutch and flywheel behind a 22r on 40" iroks, and a parts store clutch and flywheel behind a 3rz on 42" sticky treps. The parts store setups were more than adequate for hard wheelin and years of abuse. Never had an issue with them slipping. To be honest, I prefer them in a trail rig over a super grippy clutch. I like to be able to feather the clutch when needed. That's a little harder to do when your clutch grabs instantaneously. Just my 2 cents...

It's probably worth resurfacing your flywheel, or replacing it while you're at it. Pretty sure the flywheel bolts are TTY/one-time use.

So which parts store has the best clutch? Or go rock auto?

I’ve had the violent $500 dump and jump clutches always and wouldn’t mind trying the regular stuff. Can always change it later.

Just want to stop the leaking before we crawl up under it and start the ton swap.

Advance has a Luk for 350. Interestingly enough the higher up models (SR5) has a flywheel for $107 and the base model is $129

I wonder if the two have different weights?

Nobody lists the flywheel bolts.

Luk or sachs stay away from exedy rock auto buys them in bulk after their shelf life (3years) is up, but they’re stored in a/c warehouse in strongsvilld oh for luk and almost never have rust when sold to rock auto

I don't recall ever having luck getting flywheel bolts from a parts store. You will probably have to get them from Toyota, or a performance Toyota parts vendor like LCE or similar.

Looks like I have the R150F transmission for the 3.0 truck.

Looks like YotaShop.com has a kit for this and for a better price than Orileys (Power Torque) but less than the Advance Auto (Luk) for $262

I am not sure if they will tell me the truth if I call, but I’m guessing it’s 3.4 clutch and pilot bearing with throw out bearing for the 3.0.

No telling who makes the power torque. It 100% is rebranded but that’s a gamble luk at least has a qc dept in Ohio. Most of their friction discs are Mexico made

Good grief!!! A factory flywheel is 1000!
Im running a parts store flywheel in mine.

I get my OEM Toyota parts from Toyotapartsdeal.com. sound sketch, but I have had awesome luck over the past 10yrs with them. So get the bolts from them, and probably the pilot bearing. Im scared from mine failing within 10k miles and having to drop the trans again lol

YotaShop CS was a delight to speak with. I was honest and said I’m fishing for info because I want to run a metallic clutch for a crawler. Their clutch is a Asiin clutch as strong or slightly stronger than factory. Their kit is a 3.4 clutch etc with a 3.0 throw out bearing.

Time to decide if the LC Engineering is worth it or just go YotaShop.

Toyotapartsdeal.com does sound sketchy! I’ll check them out.

I’ve beat on my parts store napa clutch for several years, no complaints. Also have the LCE heavy flywheel (not sure it was worth the expense)

I’m not buying an expensive flywheel with all the other expenses on this thing. I’ll look it over but the truck drives great from a clutch standpoint. Probably hit the existing flywheel with some sandpaper and brake clean, slap a new clutch and move on.

Asin made the trans, I’m sure it’s oe quality
I’ll probably just get the YotaParts clutch.

Too much other miscellaneous items to buy on top of the all the suspension components.
