Weather

There’s like a 99.9% chance it won’t happen now because I already rolled the generator out and hooked up the cords to both houses so all i have to do is hit the start button and flip some breakers. Even filled it up with effemall free.
We wont get shit. I drained my sil's pool, drained all the water out of my mil's waterline (she doesn't have a generator and im not entrusting her with one), shut down my work refrigeration system and drained the cooling tower, drug out my generator and tore down down and cleaned the carb, and bought 20 gal of pure dinosaur blood. Im going to be weirdly disappointed if nothing happens

Interesting site..power outage map. Hover over a county to see outage count.

Hit the "interactive" button at the top right of the map area and shows a US map, where you can click on the state abbreviations to light up the counties in that state.

LA and MS are hit hardest right now (4am)

Just sleet so far in Cornelius. I'm not really happy about sleeping on a vinyl couch last night when I could have slept in my own bed and easily made it in to work today. If night shift doesn't make it I'll be stuck until tomorrow am.

Sleet here. Light amount thankfully so far.

Up here in NE Mary-Land we've had about maybe 4-5" of snow but now its changed to some kind of sleet/freezing rain crap that you can hear against the windows. That will be fun later.

Its only like 15 degrees, 10 wind chill so I can't quite wrap my head around why it isn't fully frozen when falling but thats why I'm not a weatherologist

Shallow, low altitude wedge of super cold air with a very tall layer of warm air above. Not a weatherologist either but I watch the professionals on tv and they make me feel smart.

Well in the grand scheme of things this was kind of a nothing burger here. I also haven't left my house since Friday afternoon, so Hickory could be a warzone for all I know, at least the powers on lol.

Really the same here. Roads are pretty messy but passable with 4x4, people have been smart so far, and power has stayed on. Work truck is 2wd, so im not planning on going anywhere tomorrow though.

I've been quietly celebrating the outcome so far. Been sick and slumming between the couch and bed since Friday late. Dealing with weather related shenanigans has been way down at the bottom of list of want to.

Late Saturday evening started with mixed ice ball/ freezing rain. About 1/4” accumulation by this morning. Luckily the wind is zero so the trees aren’t swaying with all the added weight threatening powerlines. On and off today and now it’s shooting ice ball /snow pretty hard. Work in the morning so I guess we shall see what that brings. Only 20 minute drive but all backroads so not expecting anything to be “cleared” not that NC in my area has any ability short of pre-treating which has long since left that chat.

2” of sleet on everything here. Has been great for sleedding, ok for driving, but once the slush freezes tonight the roads will be a shit show tomorrow morning. Haven’t seen a plow yet, and all the salt either blew off or washed away before anything started. I told all my employees to stay home and not risk the roads and we will try again on Tuesday.
