Chevy avalanche or Tahoe

Looking to buy an avalanche to gain some extra rear passenger space for car seats while still having a pseudo bed. Other option is a tahoe, could still get plywood etc in back with seats down.

I like the idea of an avalanche minus the plastic faux roll hoop area

The Tahoe of course has more covered storage.

Same drivetrain suspension wheelbase curb weight etc

So, what would you guys think is a better purchase?

Toyota Sienna. You can carry a sheet of plywood or the whole family. I know myself @justjeepin86 and @drkelly all have and love them.

I've got an 04 Avalanche, and I believe the wheelbase is the same as the Suburban not the Tahoe. One of the points that make me go that route. I've been mostly pleased with it, but also have had several Tahoes in the family in those years. That gen of trucks has been great for us. 5.3, 4l60e's have been very reliable and long lasting for what they are. Between the Avalanche and Tahoe, you really can't go wrong either way IMO, just whatever suits you best.

Tahoe wheelbase =116 suburban and avalanche 130 extended cab short bed or crew cab short bed Silverado 143.5

I have a Silverado extended cab but with 2 car seats in the rear I have to scoot the drivers seat up till I’m hugging the steering wheel. The crew cabs are hard to find at a decent price but avalanches seem to be overlooked

I've really enjoyed my Avalanche. Comfy family hauler when you need it or regular cab long bed length when you need it. It's nice to go to the lumber yard without having to hitch up the trailer.

That's a 9.5' kayak and the tailgate will close.

I don’t want 4wd or awd one more system to change fluids in, happy with 5.3 performance already so no need for 6.0

I know an electrician that works out of a minivan, says he can buy them used for cheap, loading height is lower, and everything is locked up.

Honesty I’m looking at $6k cash for either with 150k ish miles and I can work on a Chevy, the Camry I had was the biggest headache to do anything on, alternator required taking the intake off etc. the loading height is no issue, and the vans I’ve looked at were higher mileage in that price range

Plus I like the idea of having a vehicle with an ls for future swap potential. And the dream of a 6 speed swap is alive in me

Looks like I’m headed to charlotte tomorrow for a 2003 Yukon with a 5.3 2wd 175k for $5k wish I could find one with barn doors, but I’m prioritizing low miles (for the age)
