Not exactly 4x4 tech, but I wanted to post up to see if the brain trust here could help me troubleshoot an older Hyster S25XL (B010 series) LP forklift. I picked it up not running, but driven to where it was parked (Thanks @jeepinmatt for helping move it!!)

It had a ton of wires disconnected and it looks like the main/large power wire from the alternator/starter melted at some point. New battery/key acquired and I have gotten it to the point where I can get it to turn over, but won't actually start. To be fair, I haven't cranked on it for an extended amount of time because I want to get the wiring closer to where I feel comfortable with it. Is anyone here familiar with these forklifts or have a link to a site that sells a manual that they trust? Most of the sites I have seen with manuals that you can purchase look like scam sites.

Right now I have an orange wire that has 12V with key on, brown wire with 12v key on, a black that's a ground and the big red melted wire that are not connected. I believe at least one of them goes to the oil pressure switch/sending unit on the side of the motor (that I believe is a Mazda m4 121 4 cylinder). It sounds like there were two versions, UA/VA models - I can double check on that if needed.

gas solenoid on vaporiser getting power when cranking?
solid question. This system is vacuum actuated. I didn't have all of my tools in the same spot as the forklift when I first started messing with it. I do now, so I can check for vacuum when cranking and get back to everyone on that.

I had to replace the shutoff solenoid on my ranger8 welding machine that runs on lp. It sat without a tank on it and mud dobbers had gotten inside the hose and built a nest. There were no signs of it until I pulled apart the lines to the solenoid.

Place hand partially over throttle body while cranking, acts as “choke” by forcing open stuck diaphragm in vaporizer, and also pulling more fuel and vacuum, I’ve gotten many lifts started this way. Also check vapor line for decay and degradation, it’ll suck air before it sucks fuel and not start, 3/4” heater hose is a short term fix….that could end up being a perm solution…..

What's your email? I've got an s35 and 60 and a bunch of manuals for them that I can send you, all those generation forklift are pretty similar. One is Mazda engine electrical manual though

I'll keep that in mind, thanks!
