.30 wire for welder

In preparation for the web wheeler weekend, I ordered some tube fenders for the tj. They are diy kit from Barnes. I have a Lincoln 255 with .35 wire and a smaller welder that uses .23. Im thinking .30 would be more beneficial for that welding then the .35. Would it be better to run .30 in my larger welder with the large magnum 250l torch or pickup an extra chinese .30 welder?

I'm a typical Toyota owner hack, but I use .035 flux core for everything but Toyota sheet metal where I bump it down to .030 (still sucks but whatever). I have welded 11g with .035 flux core pretty easily, so with gas it should be a breeze. I guess my point is you should be fine with .035 weldpak 100. I like that little welder, I borrowed one from a friend to do my solid axle swap and Toyota axle flip in 2016, I welded the knuckle balls on using that little guy and they are still holding strong!
 
I have ran all three sizes in various set ups. I have almost exclusively switched to .030 for everything except heavy stuff and that gets .045 or bigger in a production lots of welding situation. I still stick weld damn near anything equipment repair related unless it lots of weldment.

.030 seems to be a real sweet spot for everything from .25 thick to 16 gauge. I really fell in love with it for tubing/dom stuff.

My Miller and the Lincoln are both 220 volt with the Lincoln being an inverter capable of 110 volt. The Lincoln sings with .030 line bore welding with either input. The Miller runs like a completely different unit using .030. After purchasing the Lincoln I darn near sold the Miller (before running .030) because it absolutely shined running .030 . I decided to keep it for shop and the Lincoln stays loaded in a job box ready to hit the road.

Vehicle sheet metal gets .023. Tig welding if I feel like really aggravating myself.

Yeah, me too and I have no f-ing idea what I'm doing with a welder compared to WW!
