I'm too lazy to try to search people in my area out ! Hickory friends ?

I'd love to meet off road buddies. Or make new friends in general.

I'm new to the game, but I'm no idiot !

So what do ya say ? Let's be friends.

You don't have to live in Hickory, but close by would be helpful. I'd like to meet folks that know of trails in the area. And wheelers that aren't quite the novice I am. ( For obvious reasons. ) I'm not limited to staying in the Hickory area, I'm open to some travel. Just know that I am a family guy, and chances are I'll have them along for the ride. ( The wife is pregnant so any trails I'd take her on would have to be easier ... so as not to stir the baby ! )

I ramble quite a bit don't I ?

Anyways .... hope to hear from some of you !

not much in the way of trails in hickory. You have to go to Uwharrie or Mtn. City to get anything good. Theres Brown Mountain pretty close, but its nothing spectacular. Then there is Richlands Road, which I still have no idea whether its legal to wheel there or not...

EDIT**

And in turn, we should set up some sort of Hickory Meet and Greet..eh?

Yea we should do a meet and greet, I live in Hickory/Newton area also. I'm a family guy, so I like to take my family along also. We like to go camp at URE and wheel some. Here is my rig.....Is this extreme enough to learn some.

You build your rig or buy it from someone? I talked to a guy on campus one day and I thought I remember him telling me that he built it...maybe I missunderstood...I had alot going on at the time...

You work at devotion right? I got a tattoo done there last July for my 18th. birthday. I think his name was eric. That's a nice Bronco you have. I live right in the middle of Hickory. I don't know of any local trails that are legal and i don't really have the time to travel but i'm up for a meet an greet if y'all wanna do it.
 
Actually I was just fired from Devotion Tattoo because I took a grievance time off when my 4 1/2 month old nephew passed away last Monday. There's a little more to it than that ... but that's not the focus in this thread either.

I'd love a meet and greet. I live in Conover, off of Houston Mill Rd. I have a rather large yard / driveway area if you guys wanted to get together that way. Or perhaps we could set up something a little more public ?

All I know of in Hickory is the spot right behind the old Super K-Mart. ( Which I knoooooow is quite illegal. ) And I most recently saw a spot I personally wish I had balls enough to try, but I see that no one ever has. Just behind Roberts Mazda ... as you turn on the side road to take you up to the Iwanna / Exxon. There's quite a hill there off to the side with fresh sod. Man I'd love to be able to tear that up and make it outta there ! ( I know better though. haha )

Some of you mentioned places I've never heard of ... though I've heard of Richlands. My friend Sam speaks of that place as though it were 4x4 Heaven. I've heard it's not all that though.

Either way ... yes to a meet n greet for the Hickory area. We should gather as many folks up as possible and see who's who !

The farm ? This sounds like fun !
 
360 ... thanks for the links. Nice Jeep ! I'll have to talk Josh over at Devotion into joining up on here too. He's got a pretty nifty Jeep he just had Extreme Machines lift and stick tires on for him. Seeing his muddy is what kinda got me excited in the first place.

Its actually behind Wal Mart, unless we are talking about 2 different locations. Ive been back there once (dont patronize, it was before I knew about all the illegal wheeling deal, and before I became a member of the community, and before I had a place to take my ex for some "alone" time if you get my drift".)

Anyways, from what I could tell, it was pretty tame. I went at night...

I believe I know of the Roberts Mazda spot your talking about. There looks to be a 4 wheeler trail back there, i went up the hill a little bit, again before I knew of all that stuff I posted above, and again for the same reason :huggy:

But now I dont mess with any of that garbage. I stick to the legal places at all times.

And hey... if Devotion was uset about you taking time off for that litle angel, then they ain't too devoted are they?

There is that special place for him bro and he'll be waiting for you guys to hold him again.
 
Nooooooo man ... not behind Walmart ... I know where you mean there ... but hell they set up a bunch of boulder(ish) rocks to keep people out. ( But uh ... if you were a real wheeler ... I don't suppose those would matter. lol ) The spot behind Roberts Mazda that I mean is just a deep ass hole !! If I had to guess I'd say it's about 150 - 200 foot deep ? Steep as hell !!! If you ever get up that way ... turn onto that road that takes you up to the Exxon and as soon as you turn on to it ... look off to the right. You'll see what I mean.

It boiled down to an argument about the definition of salary. He placed me on salary a few months ago. 55 hours a week ...420 a week. ( Do the math on that and tell me if that's very fair anyways. ) After taxes it broke down to 305 a week anyways. BULLLLLLL. Anyways ... he tried to tell me he was going to " dock " my pay ... AND expected me to pay the counter girl ( also on his legit payroll ) out of my pocket for the time she was covering for me ... even though I'd explained that even if it took a month of here n there's ... I'd make up my lost time.

His exact words ? " I'll give you you're fu^$%%g salary ! But you don't have a job anymore ! " ... on top of that he also made sure to say to me ... " I checked into it ... and I don't have to legally give you grievance time since it's just your nephew. "

What a prick. I've vented ... though I honestly didn't want to do so publicly.


AND ... actually he went slangin' about a month ago. Someone just recommended the site to me on the 19th ... never even knew it exsisted ! I had posted a Myspace bulletin about wanting to go get muddy cause it had been raining some.

Sometimes it feels better to get things off your chest and just let the rage go. Here in the general chit-chat... just keep it pg and vent away! We will either give you support, or bust your balls... either way... it's fun!!

Thanks for the rad rig comment...It is fun. I was coming back with a friend that just did a 350 conversion and a sas on a 92 yota...So he wanted to do a shack down on it. We had a good time we were trying some things out. He is a cool guy v8pickup on here. He would be game.
 
I ust tought of something my grandfather owns the old Jo Bells on Hwy 16. We could meet there beide the new walmart in Conover on 16 heading toward taylorsville. He also has about 750 acres behind Jo Belles there we could go ride on and see what all is there. Just a thought. I also know everyone that meets at Arby for bike night and car shows...I'm sure we could meet there. Lets just pick a day and go to Arby's or Jo Belles... Everyone suggest a day,time and loacation out of these Two mentioned.
