I have the opportunity to buy A LOT of schedule 40/80 mixed up pipe locally. I figured since the economy is so slow I could make skate rails and sliders for local skate shops and wheelers.

But I DON'T want to buy 9000 lbs. of this pipe and have it sit in my yard for 8798787 YEARS rusting.

What is a fair price and how do you think I should market this opportunity? I have a notcher/welder/computer to market with and plenty of time to do it. ideas? or even better yet? CUSTOMERS?

A crazy thought popped in my head the other day. It would make a really cool bed or couch.

I have an air bender. PM me with serious requests and interest and this could happen sooner than later.

I prefer to keep them basic and cheap but I can do whatever as long as it's making money lol... and your getting what you want

Thanks, but i dont have the room in my driveway, i had some pipe from work and made a bench type box to skate on. One year i will get the wood to make the halfpipe in my backyard :)

OK- I could make it collapsible for storage but it's up to you. thanks anyways

I have a business acquaintance that owns a plumbing distribution business....I could probably lot sale it for you if you are getting it cheap enough

dude, you're planning on living for a LONNNGGGG time... :flipoff2:

thanks guys.... I don't plan on living a looooong time (I eat a lot of BBQ) but my yard will definately be here for a looooong time. haha.

I need some people to step up... I guess I'll put an ad on craigslist too.

Do you already have the material?

sch 80 would be too heavy for most use. I'd buy it by the pound at scrap price so you can always break even if need by. Sliders in my area go for about $200 a set installed.

would you build me a set of sliderrs??? pm me

yes I will. It seems I have enough interest to go ahead with this idea. all those who are interested in quotes and questions please PM me and I'll give my # out.

The two big questions would be
1- would you be able to bring the rig to me?
2- would you prefer I make a "kit" with legs pre notched and you can weld together?
b/c.... this would be the cost effective way to ship them.
3- what exactly do you want?

Gubni- thanks for the offer but I am paying a bit more than scrap price for it unfortunately. I'll keep you in mind if I head to Callalantee though.
Some folks need Sch. 80 haha. that stuff is TOUGH! heavy but in this small amount the strength vs. weight is acceptable to me.

I'm picking up the materials Monday afternoon and have several people coming this week. If interested- please PM me and we can get it setup. If this does well and things go like I want I will move into tubing and more elaborate work.... I have the bender/notcher/welders and tools but have never done "customer" work before so I'm starting small with this deal on sliders.

OK- I'm ready to go on these guys. I bought the load today (8,600 lbs of pipe) and hauled it home on the rollback.

I am ready to start doing work. so pm if interested. btw- I called around today to price DOM and HREW... DOM is $5.75 a foot and HREW is $2.75 a foot. That's more than a few dollars more and pipe is fine for sliders.

so- let's get going

Have you fabbed up some sliders yet? Throw up a pic. I dont need any but I am curious on the craftsmanship. Best of luck bud!

I haven't done any "customer work" yet so I have no pics... I'll get some up as soon as I get a few pieces done. stay tuned and thanks for the well wishes. happy wheeling

sorry, I forgot I posted this up. I have one pic that a customer sent me. I still need to add a center brace in these but he was going wheeling the next day and it got dark on me.

he is extremely happy with them and he's tough on rigs.

so- for most rigs we are looking at $200 installed +/-.... that's painted and welded on.

I may be interested in a set, approx 100" long for my truck, just premade sliders, with pre notched kickers I could weld on myself. But it will probably be summer before I would have the extra cash for it. Maybe even a set ~120" long for my Dmax in place of wheel to wheel step bars.
