URE opening day

Well Im ready for sure guys!I stayed at ECGS with chase all day trying to get my ARB right.Anyways its good to go so I cant wait to try it out!

me and about 5 rigs are going up friday staying all weekend, we are staying in the turn right before the shooting range on the gravel road.

I have Friday off so I may just make a day trip. Although I want to go camping. Just cant get anyone else to go with and my roommates only day off is Sunday. Hope to see yall!

Wheeling in thunder and lightening storms doesn't sound like fun

That is the best time to go wheeling at URE! Worst to camp though, lol!

Wish I was going this w/e, but got too much else going on.

just saw this and thought i would share.

Notes from opening day @ URE

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Owner of eldorado outpost - Air hoses now have a red push button, if you hit the button it bypasses and goes to a 50gallon tank that dumps air quick for airing up

Pete Gordon is no longer a ranger. Charles Foot is the new ranger and he is hardcore. He has no tolerance for breaking any rule.... This means no alcohol, no steering off the trails, no camping in unmarked sites, etc... All rules will be very strictly enforced.

Ledge at rocky mount ledge up to kodak and daniel first ledge are impassible when wet.. no traction
Must have a winch to get over them

They bulldozed a couple sections of daniel and rocky mount loop. Where they bulldozed it is thick mud...

At the mud hole on falls dam at art liley camp ground, the water level up to josh's doors..

The ranger Lee has been replaced and there is a new district ranger.

When you get past the second ledge on daniel where it splits into three... the easy bypass to the far left is blocked off. Three big trees in the way.

The little rock on the back side of daniel where the stump is where everyone plays, the stump has been removed.

Just talked to him on the phone. He wanted to let you guys know haha. He couldnt wait for it to be posted.

If all rules are going to be strictly enforced he should take a refresher course in them or go back to Alabama and play in the woods.

Quoted from the Uhwarrie USFS page:

Primitive dispersed camping is allowed throughout the Forest, except in those areas that are posted "No Camping". These sites can be found along most of Forest Service roads and trails. Please remember when using these sites to be careful with camp fires and carry out your trash and debris. Please leave your campsite in good clean condition so that others who follow you may also enjoy the Forest.

Unless he can rewrite USFS policy and rules at will you can still camp anywhere in Uhwarrie that is not posted "No Camping". Who does he think he is the Obamamessiah?
