Hello All,
Just picked up a 97 TJ from 4wdspecialties in Gastonia. 4" suspension Lift and a 3" body lift. 36" IROK super Swampers (36x13.30x15). This is my daily driver and was wondering if anyone had an idea on what big tires brands are quieter and better for road? I have 15" rims and the selection for big all terrain tires is sparse.

I'm not used to the new size system for these tires. What does the 13.50 mean? and can you put on any other sizes, 12.50 or 13?

heres the size of your iroks.....the first number "36" is the height of your tire in inches, the second number "13.50" is the width of your tire in inches, and the last number "15" is the diameter(radiusx2) of your rim...welcome to the wheelin world

a few things...
- you do not have big tires.
- no "big" tires will ride "good" and "quiet" on the road (at least not any that are also good off road)
- 15" is by far the MOST popular size rim for "big tires"
- The "new" system is actually the old system

Hope you like the new Jeep.
How about telling us a little about your intended usage, in addition to DD duties so we can help make some recommendations. And sure you can put any size tire on the Jeep, it just takes money
 
I just put some 35" KM2s on my waggy and drove a couple hundred miles this past weekend.

They are not super loud(except on new asphalt), but they are not quiet. They rode awesome though. Handling was better than expected also.
 
Probably better not run those IROKS too much on the road...if you want them to last long long at all, even if they are radials. Get some all terrains for the highway. They can still be ''big'' and look cool, but those iroks wont last..=waste of money.

I second all that....If possible keep the IROK's for the trails and have a Daily Driver set....
 
Welcome man! And Jay at 4wd Specialties is a super nice guy, does good work too. if you want big tires but quieter and will last longer go with a set of A/T's (All terrains). BFG A/T KO's are my fav but I just got a set of 35" Goodyear A/T's and they are great so far!

If your from Raleigh what brought you all the way to Gastonia?

and I say goodyear mtr's, 35-12.5's if you can still get them... I ran a set on my yj for 2 yrs. They looked good, were pretty quiet, and made me mad b/c they would not wear out (so I could get some boggers lol).
 
If money is an issue, BFG and Goodyear are on the pricey side. I put Maxxis Bighorns on my DD Grand Cherokee two years ago. I think they are a little noisy on my ZJ but it's a unibody and everything is louder on those. They do ride better than the BFG AT's that were on there before and handle just as well. Off road they seem to function as well as any other basic radial mud tire IMO. They have worn even and still have most of their tread left.
 
Hi there. Just wanted to throw out there that I just picked up a set of Goodyear Wrangler Authority's from Wally world this weekend. They are A/T but look like MTR's or something, and are not too noisey (in my brick-in-the-wind nissan which is probably like an F1 car compared to a jeep !!!! :) But anyway, they list like 150 each for 31x10.5x15 but sold for 130 each. I've had lots of compliments, but haven't been off-road yet. And yes, to a regular guy used to buying car tires like me, this is a "new/unfamiliar" system for tire measurements. My truck is also my DD, just for some perspective for you.
