I've had this beast as my desktop wallpaper for a few months now. Couldn't find any discussion on it, but I feel like it warrants a thread. It's bad ASS. And a very cool concept in terms of "open source" design/build. Check it out...

I really like the idea of the watts link in the rear. I've been waiting on those to show up more in the 4wd world. Wish there were some more specs and pictures of the front and rear suspension setups though.

i forgot what the down side of that was. i had started researching it when i was building the 2.5ton bronco2.
 
Prob that it's hard to make the center link long enough that it doesn't over rotate when the susp. drops out. Other than that I can't think of too many. I just like them cause if you don't have enough room triangulate links you can use a watts to keep the axle truly centered unlike a panhard which travels in an arch.
 
On that watts thing, couldn't you make the ends shackled and the center fixed? Probably hit the tires though when flexed out.

Or limit strap the center right before it would over rotate?

2.) The Rally Fighter is RWD - this is necessary/typical because it is a niche desert racing vehicle with on-road ability.

3.) Some people have requested a 4wd Rally Fighter - that would be awesome. BUT, we can design and build an intentional 4-wheel off road vehicle for NC - so why not do something brand new? Thoughts? Would you guys want to help spec out a competition for something like this?

cool!!! I had never seen this set before, but when I did I realized the potential immediately. the amount of travel needed for a 4x4 is the only difference. Limit straps and maybe some kind of cantilever system??
 
Yea! I follow my alerts :) It's fun to find these conversations, as long as folks don't mind me joining in on the talks. Listening to the community is such a huge part of how we bring cars to market; it would be silly for me not to say "what's up" and introduce myself since you guys are talking Rally Fighter anyway. I will see you around!
