Pros and Cons of driver side drop ????

I am going to be building a CJ and have a pair of 60's in mind for it. The front 60 is a driver side drop .

? will I run into many problems flipping the dana 300 . I have never done this and figured I would ask for some input . I have heard that I needed to build the case before I flipped it so it stay happy :D
 
Flipping the case is a fine thing to do. Flipping it doesn't make it weaker or stronger, but while it is out, it is worth building it so you don't have to heave it in again down the road.
 
You've got problems. :shaking: :flipoff2: Unless you've already got the axles, the cons are that chevy 60's are half the price of ford 60's and chevy drivetrains are easier and cheaper to do. If I were starting with an empty heep I would no doubt go chevy.

I can get the axles next to nothing from a friend and they are built. 488, detroits ect.
 
I'll take the driver's drop 60 and help you find a chevy 60...:flipoff2:
I'd say if you can get them axles, get em...then either build and flip the 300 or get a drivers side atlas...

Other than the high cost of driver drop front axles, which you have covered, I dont see any other reasons specifically to avoid it.

Haha. you don't need it. that cj was looking good at the flats.

I am going to use what I can from ole silver and build a nice Cj with a good frame and body I can cruise to the mall in:rolleyes:

Don't forget that you will probably have to redo your exhaust. Aside from the flip kit for the Dana 300, cost wise you are not too bad.

I personally like the driver's side drop that I used to have in my YJ when it was stock as opposed to the passenger drop Scout axles I swapped in because I hit less stuff. Ground clearance was only marginally different (Dana 44 was shaved), but because I had a better sense of where it was under me, I'd hit less stuff with it.

Yeah, I never thought of it that way. Thanks for all the responses !
 
may be cheaper to to sell the 300 and swap in a np231. But i do not know if there would be a "considerable" loss of strength.
