Somebody Help Me! UNCC area Charlotte

Went down there and got him out a little bit ago. Took about 5 minutes. Told him to get on here and catch up with some guys and go wheeling and show him around. Said he's new at wheeling.

damn....this would have to happen when my soap box was in the shop for yearly maintanence.

oh well, glad he got out. stay off the power line trails. theres plenty of places to wheel legally.

That LC looks to be bone stock behind that ARB bumper...even with factory lockers he's screwed!

Should have bought a Mitsubishi!

For those of you that help retrieve guys that get stuck in illegal places, what's your approach??? Do you just keep your fingers crossed that you don't get caught? Do you try to contact the owner of the land and let them know what's going on, so you're not on the hook? In all reality, you're being a good person, but regardless of intentions, you're guilty of doing the same thing.

This happened to a friend of mine he made it down to the place where the other person was stuck and the only person who got a ticket was the one who was stuck . the let my friend go downthere as a recovery vehicle .cost the other guy 150 bucks .

That's the way I look at it too. Somebody's got to get it out and a wrecker wouldn't be able to do it or get to it most of the time. Would have to be something 4x4 I believe most cops would be understanding about it if you tell them the situation unless there a dick.

But yea it was stock besides the bumper. Told him to invest in a winch and some tires first.

Best investment you can make ---> a buddy with a better vehicle to go along with you :driver:

If you get stuck wheeling illegal and call me, if I know you, I will probably try to get you. If I don't know you, Ill probably refer you to someone else who is more willing. Needless to say if I catch a fine for coming to get you, you just picked up an extra ticket.

I went and got a guy off the power line trails in Stokesdale about 2 years ago, was pretty funny because I was driving to humphreys ridge in my 89 XJ on 33's, Cops were parked outside the trails and waved me down, I stopped and talked to them, they said they would like for me to go in and get this guy out, I figured sure why not, but they took my tag information down so that if I was caught in there on a seperate occasion I would be charged without a warning.

^ just wondering who would have paid for any breakage that may have occured while you were down there? It doesn't seem like it was really YOUR choice to "trespass".

Sure it was, he chose to go help. If it were me, and my rig broke, I would pay to fix it. How is this any different from wheeling legally recovering a vehicle and your rig breaks? Would you expect the stuck rigs owner to pay for it? If so, don't bother stopping if I'm ever stuck on the trail, I'll manage or wait for the next guy.

Exactly what I was thinking.

I was just wondering. It was just me thinking into it. No need to get all bent out of shape about it.

As for your personal attacks, I'm nothing like that.

Didn't think about it at the time, but wasn't terribly worried about breakage back then, had it broke, Id have dealt with it. Now if at the time some one calls my jeep is in less than perfect shape, and something breaks, would definately atleast expect some help with repairs.

I wasn't referring to the guy you went to retrieve, I was referring to the cops that "said they would like for me to go in and get this guy out". I may have worded my response wrong or maybe it was misread. I wouldn't expect a fellow wheeler to pay for any breakage that occured during the recovery (unless maybe it was a situation like the O.P's). I was just thinking, "hmm...the cops are sending him in there and also writing down his plate/vehicle info for future reference." IMO, no harm, no foul. It was just my .02.

conversations on the net sometimes suck.

I would take my chances with a ticket but the guy stuck would know ahead of time that if I am ticketed the cost would be on him. I would not be there if he did not need the extraction. Other than that a handshake or maybe a few bucks depending on how far I travled.

same situation? would u pull her out not knowing her?
