06 Yukon Denali XL - Uwharrie????

I just got myself a used Denali. I would like to take it up to Uwharrie to try it off road. Do you guys think it will be able to handle some of the easy trails? (without spending money on modifications)
It is completely stock, eventually when I get the money I would like to do some modifications to it. Any recommendations?
 
First off, I would remove the front bumper and steps, they hang stupidly low on Denali's. Second, assuming you have an AWD Denali, your BW transfer case does not have a 4low setting so stay away from anything technical. And finally, the Yukon XL is HUGE, expect body damage.
 
I think it will high center on the fire breaks - especially since it is a XL... Those bad boys are looooooong...

Great vehicle, but maybe not for anything more than "trail rides" - without the fire breaks...
 
I'm not really looking to do anything more than simple trail riding. I will probably put some mud tires on there before I go. (hopefully that won't effect my gas milage too much seeing as that big ass thing gets horrible milage in the first place haha) All the Denali trim levels are AWD standard.

I didn't think about body damage but if I'm careful I should be able to avoid anything too horrible right? I mean I don't want to pay $200/mo to drive around a beat up piece of shit.
 
Newer Denali's were available in 2wd, the 40/60 viscous coupled transfer case might as well be 2wd when it comes down to really having to pull the big suv around. And it's gonna take more than bigger mud tires to keep that front bumper from dragging the ground.
 
Man don't do it, that thing is 1) too nice to beat on off road and 2) not meant to go off road and 3) sell it to me :D
 
Do not drive that thing on any trail. Honestly, don't do it. You will regret it. They are just way too nice and not designed for what you are talking about.

You WILL high center on the water birms/fire stops (big ass humps in the trail every 50 feet). I took a 1998 F150 on the trail and it high centered. it's much higher than a Denali. Say goodbye to your running boards/steps.

Secondly, you WILL scratch it and will likely dent it too. It's just a bad idea.
 
Now, if you want to take it to URE and run it around on the gravel roads - and have lunch with The Hot Dog Guy - I think we would all give you a thumbs up (and ask for a quick ride to The Outpost)... You would only have to make about 2 trips and with tips, you would cover your gas .... errrrrrrrr maybe not...

I think it's not a good idea, sell it and get something better. Like a Yota:flipoff2: Or you could sas and 37's, bob it and a real transfer case plus tons of other stuff and have a one of a kind.
 
Haha thanks for all the laughs guys. Ya it probably isn't the best idea, I was just hoping to have some fun in it.

It totally wasn't purchased to go off-roading. I was just hoping that I could have some fun with that big ass thing.

and if you stick that thing and block a trail....... there will be hell to pay.........:flipoff2:
 
Why not save up a little cash and buy a cheap Cherokee or something to take to URE. You can find Cherokee's from a couple hundred bucks up to $1000 pretty easily. You'll likely do over $1k worth of damage to the Denali within the first 20 minutes of being on the trails.
 
After watching the video in the Gulche's web site i bet he can make it on some of the easy trails to watch the crazy guys in there buggys Prez day weekend.
