 does anyone know why this tranny keeps blowing 5th gear? I had it rebuilt twice and it let go again. Also is there a remedy to the internal throwout bearing/ slave valve.

If you are constantly lugging it in 5th it will fail. Dont use it unless you are going fast enuff to keep the rpms up a little.

I rarely use my fifth in my 95 yj 4cyl. I have 33s and 4.10 gears. I imagine if I had a set of 4.88s it would be used more.

because it was designed as a 4spd, that was later modified to be designed as a 5 spd. The best remedy is to swap out and put in a AX15. There is a writeup on pirate and somwhere else as to how to do this. Google is your friend. With the cost of a rebuild, again, I'd say it's time to upgrade to something alittle more reliable. Unless you want to sell your truck.

edit: here's one http://www.jeeps-offroad.com/articles/ax15swap.php
