I've got an 87 GMC Jimmy that I am building up as a wheeling/camping vehicle. I'd love to have an ARB front bumper (I've loved them since I saw one on a Defender 90 back in the early 90's (I've also loved Defenders since then but, that's a pipe dream, LOL!)). Problem is, ARB doesn't make a bumper for it. BUT, they do make a 88-99 Chevy front bumper, seems like dimensions should be fairly similar? SOOO, anybody done this??? Any info would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

SOOO....

Possible???

I know the frames are completely different but, seems like that could be overcome with custom brackets?

I don't see why you couldn't. Looks like you'll have to cut the bottom off the front of the front fenders where the bumper wraps around. And probably some heavier springs. That looks HEAVY!

The ARB is actually not that heavy. I can handle on by myself, no prob... so long as it doesn't have a winch in it.

Easiest way to figure it out would be to park yours alongside a late-model and see how far they're actually off. You're probably going to have to do quite a bit of work to get it to line up... both on the truck side and the bumper side.

dont see why not. a lot of people mod ARBs

That they do though, ARB seems to act like the world is going to end if you modify their products in any way! LOL!

My fenders are already pretty cut, so, no biggie! I think the springs will be okay, I've had a pretty hefty frontend on it before with no noticeable sag.

ARBs are for people who can't rock CUCV brushguards imo..

LMAO!!! I may be rocking my CUCV setup for a while!

Good point! I just gotta make friends with somebody that has one, kinda doubt some stranger would appreciate me crawling all over the frontend of their truck taking measurements, LOL!

What about one of these? Pretty similar look to the ARB...

I do like that one a LOT!! Had one close to it, ORD's other design, the low profile one. I loved it but, had to sell it when I was jobless for 6 months. I'm just thinking about the ARB since I have always loved the look of them and it'd be something different! Just trying to figure out if it is do-able before I spend a bunch of money and discover it won't work!

Bigger pic of the ORD one I had (it's on in my avatar as well):

Thanks y'all!
