I remeber them in 84'. I and a friend went to Jordan Lake to go fishing. The sound of them was loud and the fishing was bad. The wind got up and pushed the bugs out of the trees and like a clould they rain into the water and the fish were eating them everewhere.
 
So yesterday I was driving home with trailer in tow and kept hearing this weird noise, so I slowed down opened a window and was like what the heck is that noise. My buddy started laughing as it was thousands of them making the noise. We both had a good laugh

But man they are super loud
 
Haven't seen any yet this year.
 
None here yet, but the tree frogs are super loud after an even small rain. Buddy of mine called me from AL. and it was so loud there. I couldn't hardly hear him
 
I've seen three at our house. There is a noticeable "buzz" around our house but no where as loud as a typical year. 1/2 mile down the road where my trailer is stored I hear them in the trees a little louder. My son said when he was down in Rock hill they had to speak louder than normal so you could hear what the other was saying. Really depends on where you are I guess.
 
There was a pretty loud drone on the river walk in Hillsborough last weekend. Only place I've heard them.
