Alright race fans...The 45th running of the Baja 1000 is next week. A peninsula run, going all the way from Ensenada to La Paz... 1121 miles this year!

From our good friend, Berne, who will be co-driving one leg (race mile 350 - 620-ish) in the #401 Shaffer Motorsports car:

The race starts Thursday Nov 15th bright and early at 6:30AM for the bikes, first Trophy Truck should be off the line around 11:30. We should start around 12:30 and should be crossing the finish line Friday afternoon/evening.

The #401 Shaffer-Motorsports car is prep'd and ready, and now its time for action.
A couple places you can look to for team updates:

I'll try to update this as much as I can.

And, race day, there should be a link on this page somewhere for live tracking of the whole event. The #401 car will have a tracker on board and you should be able to follow us and our competitors live all throughout the race.

Also, there will be some live coverage here:

And somewhere in there, there will be a link to the live "Weatherman" radio feed.

Thats about all for now.

One of my goals is to race baja, whether it be in a UTV or a truck it will happen in the next 10 years.

I share that same dream. What little research I have done so far looked like a $25k budget, after you have completed building your truck. I'm going to have to get the wife to pick up a third job. :D

I would love to race a stock class VW bug out there for the fun of it. Always was a dream of mine- though the ride would be brutal.

Looks like the 723 chase truck crashed a few hours ago with injuries and a fatality. Keep them all in your prayers!

Was on the live updates on race-dezert maybe 8 or 9pm our time. Sounded like they were air lifted back to the states.

Just found this from twitter:

please pray for the Erickson family as they lost their father today in a fatal car crash at the Baja 1000
