1 ton YJ/CJ rebuild

Made a little progress this weekend. Got the new tub comp cut and installed Poison Spyder Crusher Corners

I think today was the last possible day to even try painting outside, so I made sure to get the body work finished and a quick paint job on the tub.

Heck yeah that looks good. Is that the same color as the other one? I really like that burnt orange.
If your thinking of putting bed liner inside I'd recomment the SEM brand. I think that was the brand I used. It costed me $120 and it came w/ a gun to shoot it with.
Was alot better than the $800 estimate I got.

Thanks. Yeah I repainted it the same burnt orange color. I'll look into the SEM bedliner. Bedlining the tub is coming soon. I used Monstaliner on my last Jeep and was pretty happy with it, but a spray in would definitely be faster and probably have better texture.

 You're probably right. That was definitely harder than I expected. Thanks for your help!

I took the sending unit out of the gas tank in your old tub and found about 17 gallons of gas. No wonder it was so heavy. So my truck got a fill up!

Well that's the only bedliner I've ever used so I don't know how it really holds up but I figured inside the tub it didn't really matter a whole lot. I prepped mine pretty good and it took about two hours then it only took about five minutes to spray it. Just beware there will be black dots everywhere if you spray it in the garage. If you could tape some cardboard on the outside and let it stick up about a foot or so it wouldn't be to bad.

SEM bedliner is a great product. And you can have a paint company mix the color of your vexhicle andiz it in your bedliner and spray it in the tub.and it'll match...I did it on a metallic brown 06 f150 and it turned out great. Matched perfectly even with the metallic. Chekc or out the paint company has to mix it tho because it doesn't use all the products that a basecoat uses.

Well it resembles a jeep again. I got the tub installed. Also installed a set of Shrockworks sliders (Thanks Steve!), and added new Auto Meter gauges, new tunes, and a proper check engine light to the dash.

I've been working on wiring. The existing wiring is pretty much hacked to pieces so I've got to just about start from scratch. I'll be taking next week off and hopefully finish it up. Here's the progress so far

I made some progress during the Christmas break. Finished up the wiring, so the Jeep now has functioning lights, etc. I merged a YJ and CJ heater box together to get the upgraded blower motor of the YJ with the cable controls of the CJ. Did some rust repair in the floor pans, Monstalined the interior, and installed a back seat for the kids.

How do you like the Monstaliner?

I like it. I used it on my TJ and it held up for several years without any issues or fading before I traded it. There are spray on products that are just as good or better, but with my tiny garage I really like being able to roll bedliner on and not deal with overspray, masking everything, etc.

I thought this was pretty funny and thought I'd share. I picked up a set of hard doors that one of the windows had "come off the track." Got it home and found this inside. How does that even happen

Haven't made much progress on the jeep lately. Mostly because of my new helper. He's lazy, sleeps half the day, takes a million bathroom brakes, whines, etc. The other half of the day he's needy and makes it super hard to get anything done. Hopefully I'll get some work done soon after he's better trained. He is pretty damn cute though if i might say so....

Finally am starting to find some time to work on the jeep. I started putting in the fuel cell this week. Went with the standard RCI 2161a. I never liked the idea of having to pull the gas out of the top of these cells so I put in a Liquid Iron Industries multipoint fuel pickup. This should not only keep the jeep from starving on inclines but hopefully be a bit easier on my fuel pump as well. I finished it up with an Artec mount.

I like the fuel cell bracket hold downs. Where did you get those.

glad to see you did something with the tub.i am the guy you got it from.

Nice! What a small world, I didn't even realize you were on here. The tub worked out perfectly for what I needed. Hope the doors worked out for you.
