12/04/10 Triad Trail Junkies URE Trip

I do beleave it was Tim, and again thats for a great time guys can't wait to do it again.:bounce2:

I apologize to everyone that looked for me at URE! I came down with full intension's of setting up. But the drizzle and light sleet or snow is not what I call "weather permitting"! I can deal with the temps but not the wet! It would be spring till my stuff dried out! I was there and made a decision to not to set up. Again I'm sorry.
I'll let you go this time, but I relay wanted my five hot dog lunch.

Yea camping went well thanks for letting us join you guys
I think Tim with the tj took my d ring after pulling me out of the mud pit at like 11 that night not too worried about it:flipoff2:

Hey I do NOT have you baby sized d-ring :flipoff2::lol:

I was putting it back on your frame after taking my strap off and you said dont bother I'll just take it and I handed it to you. Look inside your cab.

It was good meeting you guys, next time ride with us.

Just want to start off by saying thanks so much for everyone who came out, and to Johnny for allowing us to use his facilities for the weekend, I know we were loud Saturday night. We will definitely be back again for our next Uwharrie trip.

The trip started off well, as a few of us headed out Friday afternoon, we arrived at Uwharrie Stables around 5:30 pm, and began to set up camp. Once we had everything set up we sat around the fire and talked about the plan for the morning when everyone else would arrive. The morning came quickly, we rode to the outpost at 9 am to meet the rest of the group, unfortunately they were no where to be found. Since we had no service at the outpost, we waited around for an hour before getting a little worried. We drove back to the stables to find they were just arriving over there, and had left Kernersville 2 hours late. Because of the delays, by the time they are finished setting up camp, and we are heading to the outpost to fill up, it is already about 11 am, we fill up and head to the double parking lot to get lunch with Terry before hitting the trails, unfortunately he had not set up so we unloaded and hit the trails, convoy was 13 vehicles, including my father driving a go cart, which proved itself throughout the day, and only had to get pulled up the very steep hill at Dutch John. We managed to hit almost every trail, except Daniel by about 3 pm, and as we were coming back to the road we bumped into 2 more Xj’s who were supposed to be riding with us, but had wrenched all night to get the jeeps ready. Our group went back to the outpost and ate, before heading back to camp. Our group cut in half there, as we went out for the evening run. The 2 XJ’s who were late to the day joined 6 more vehicles as we set out for what was sure to be some harder wheeling, the snow was coming down, it was raining on and off, but we set out. I am no good with trail names, and maybe someone can help me out here, but James bent his drag link being stubborn coming up an obstacle, which caused 2 hours of us dragging him up the remainder of the hill, then him removing the drag link, and us bending it back while slipping and sliding around on the muddy trails. By 7 pm we had him rigged up and heading back to camp. We got back to camp around 8 pm, just in time for dinner. One of our members was already cooking steaks, potatoes, and baked beans, the food was great and afterwards we set out to do a little wheeling on Uwharrie Adventures property. The hill and hole mud pit provided atleast 2 hours of excitement between everyone smacking it, one guy getting stuck, another guy losing his boots, and of course as the evening went on, the more arrogant backing through the pit and later playing in it. James managed to snap a front axle shaft and sling a u joint on the opposite side in his D30 trying to climb the wall of the mud pit. Scott managed to drive off a cliff, hanging by nothing but his rear tires, fortunately JB quickly recovered him, too quickly for us to even get pictures, was plenty of craziness on this trip for sure.

The evening went on back at camp, cold beer, hot fire, and lots of stories, my fathers dog even managed to make his way around eating whatever steak people did not want. Some folks were coming back and forth, and continued to wheel the race course into the early hours of the morning. It was definitely a late night for the group, and it was extremely cold, I believe around 20 degrees at 2 am when I last checked. The morning came too soon, and at 9 am most of us were rising and cleaning up the camp. By noon we had everything fairly well cleaned up, and loaded up and the majority of the group had headed home, including my father who was towing my jeep. I jumped in with Chris, and we headed out to daniel with 4 vehicles, and 9 people. The first obstacle on the trail claimed both Marc and Bens rear driver windows, on the XJ’s, both XJ’s were open/open with 33’s. Jon managed to crawl it, and so did Chris. We headed to the first ledge, and since most of the group had never been to daniel, was a bit surprising for them, we all got over the ledge with no problems, other than a little spinning. Moving onto the second ledge we had no issues again, and continued on with no further problems on daniel. After daniel we hit a few more trails, and made our way to Falls dam to show the guys who had not been before the dreaded soup bowl. Even though I told the group it was not a good idea, Ben pulled in slowly to give it a try, and was quickly swallowed, after being winched out, find his alternator is not charging the battery, and tow him back to the parking lot behind the YJ, where Chris makes quick work of cleaning the brushes and getting it functional again. We managed to get out of Uwharrie about 9 pm Sunday and headed home.

Best effort at a group photo I have seen, we stayed pretty busy during the day and this was in the morning while the last of the group filled up, but its what we got.
