The 14 bolt, disk brake rear diff in my '07 Work Truck has been eating pads for a while now and the rebuild was always going to be "when I got time". Well this weekend was "time"! I had bought Duralast lifetime guarantee pads for my '96 3500 that @CasterTroy now has and they also fit this '07 and I've probably gotten 15+ sets of pads under warranty so I've gotten the full worth out of that warranty too! This time I went with new rotors, calipers, and pads from Rockauto. I'll tell you what, I've heard people say not to use a factory disk brake set up for wheeling rigs because they're such a PITA to do brake work on and man is that right! I spent most of yesterday and part of today getting this done. Some of my pre ordered parts weren't right so there was a trip to try to get those, I didnt have seals and had to pick those up too, and the rubber hoses that were sent were wrong so I tried to find those but they were 3 days out at best so I re used my old ones and of all things I had no RTV to put the axles back in last night! I liked to have never got the hub/drum combo on one side because the seal wouldnt slide over the stub, I had to chain it and use a chain binder on it to pull it in.
Here's what came off of one side lol

One would think, the calipers are not sliding. Just stuck in place!

So after this initial re-build from last week it took one day for the passenger side to start leaking. It went together badly and I expected no worse. I rebuilt it with a real GM part and it fit SO much better.. One day later the driver's side started leaking. I replaced it tonight in record time! lol I guess I'm getting good at it!

Just FYI... Within a few months of taking delivery of your old dumptruck I added the most aggressive mud tires Rodney Alexander would unass pennies for 🤣

When they came in and were mounted they had such aggressive sidewalls they touched 😳 I had to order spacers... But as side from tires and new steering pump and hoses, I've spent ZERO DOLL HAIRS on it and I've beat that MF like it owed me MONEY. And told anyone that used it that you HAVE to drive it like a 4banger ranger trying to merge on 85 in Atlanta to get ANY speed/power out of it 😎 I. E. Fondling the rev limiter in every gear... ESPECIALLY 3rd 🤣

Hell, it survived at least 8 weeks and 4 trips to the dump with DEREK 😳 (no 14 bolt, nor LS has survived Derek more than 2 trips) 😘

I've even off-roaded it at Derek's farm and bounced it SO hard, the arm that holds the bed up jumped out as the bed clapped and pogo-stick'd in the ground 🤣

And still... No brake issues and no axle troubles.

MF has been the best valued vehicle I've EVER purchased. Done paid for itself 38 times over
