I wish I could say it was mine but I borrowed it from a friend. Nice trailers though.

I'm finally driving it!

It tracks great, rides not as rough as you would think, it has low compression in the #1 cylinder but all in all I am very pleased with the mechanicals.

Few pics;

Sorry for all the pics but I'm pretty excited.

Thanks guys.

I'm struggling with the condition of the body. It has such little rust but every panel has a dent. The crazy thing is the bed and tailgate are single walled and there are no dents. Crazy!!

I will have this in nice paint soon I hope. Got a lot of work ahead of me.

I love this truck. You have quite a collection there. The model A is by far my favorite though.

i like it

Man! Me too! Its like the coolest old mountain truck ever. I love old machines that just work. The high-boy axles were a perfect fit. Did you just use factory IH leaves and they just happened to line up with the ford perches in the front? How did the steering work out? Ford or IH box? Is it crossover or like a stock "J" arm?

Thanks man!

I pulled the measurements from both trucks and the important measurements like the leaf spring center pins were within 1/4" of one another. The wheelbase was within an inch, the steering appeared close to working.

I pulled the front axles out first and and slid the Ford axle under the IH. jacked up the axle, lined up the center pins, installed the u-bolts, HOOKED UP THE STEERING DRAGLINK, DONE!!!!!!!!!

Then I moved to the rears. Slid the Ford axle under the IH, lined up the center pins, installed the u-bolts, DONE.

Then I removed all three driveshafts, T-case, and factory Ford crossmember. Shortened the intermediate shaft 4" and it hooks directly up to the IH transmission, Had to build a new crossmember, both shafts fit perfectly.

I used the front shock mounts from the Ford but had to fabricate new rear mounts. I also had to build a mount for the t-case shifter.

It was honestly about as easy as it comes except if I would have found a donor IH 4x4 truck. They are hard to come by.

I will post pics of everything very soon.

Thanks again.

Next up to finish is the Buick then the "A".

Plans for the "A" is;

1. No chop
2. Stock running height
3. No fenders
4. Full hood
5. Stock 4 banger with a 2 carb intake and headers built by me
6. Hydraulic brakes
7. '35 wire wheels with old wide white walls (literally from the 50's)

Pretty basic but considered a "post war jalopy". No rat rod here. They're not my cup of tea.

I learned to drive in a 63 4x4 short bed, that was from the Navy. It was all rusted out, had no dr's door, dr's floor board & no brakes. You just turn the key off when you got "close" to where you wanted to be. It was a true 4wheel drive, I think that it had an emblem on the fender's that AllWheel drive. We used it on the farm as a wood truck. I just crused it and the parts 4x4 truck as well last April. Really had mixed feellings about doing so, but it was in such bad shape, cound't see repairing it. I love these trucks and there's still a hole in the wood shed wall from the rear bumper, from my first time backing it in and not turning the key off soon enough!

That's a great story. I understand your delema with having to crush the truck but it served it's purpose in life and you always have the memories.

Cool.

Agree, I kept the IH emblem off of the front of it & going to find a place for it in the shop. Was a hard decision b/c of the memories and that my dad just past away & I had to clean up his property. Keep the pictures coming...

The last 2 days have been consumed by building the front winch bumper. This bumper will not be a high clearance style but a more utilitarian style. I have 2 of those "cow catcher" front end guards. With 2 I am making one. I recessed the winch down inside the bumper and it will have an old square tread plate lid. Both sides below the lights will also be storage areas. I have the bumper and winch plate completed now the guard and storage compartments.

Maybe some pics tomorrow.

Dude, love the truck. My dads first truck was an International. But I gotta bring up one point, I have the same c-channel style bumper, but does anyone else think it would look way cleaner flipped the other way? C facing inwards? Feel free to ignore me if thats how you wanted it.

I agree 100% but that was the way the original owner installed it. So out of respect of a different time and need I'm going to leave it that way but it will be added to. They built things out of necessity not for looks. That's for sure.

Thanks for the reply.

Thanks man.

Make it a point to swing by the shop.

Some picture updates;

I built side rails and they slip into the side pockets. I also needed a job box of some sort so I found a 6' long X 2' high X 2' deep. I sliced it to 50" long. I attached it to rails that connect to the side rails. It is removable and will not always be on there.

I also fabricated a hitch receiver for the rear bumper and am in the process of building the front winch bumper. I have a few things to complete on the bumper.
