This is our new project. We are not sure of which way it will be going but this is what we have. Not sure if this belongs here or in a photo gallery. 001.jpg

good luck.

I bought this thing last week and haven't really had time to look it over very good. It has already had a SOA(spring over axle) lift. Im not sure of how much that amounts to? As you can see the angle at the front yoke is way off. I'll fix that later right now i'm putting the bottom pan back on before I do alot I want to hear it run and check out the running rears. The tags read 3.73 front and rear I haven't verified that yet. You know what time it is:beer::beer:front soa.jpg

Well I finally got a few hours to work on the 5 this morning. After changing the sparkplugs it started and ran really good:driver:. I did run into something I had not seen before. When I took out the old sparkplugs 5 out of 6 broke in between the tip and the nut? At first I though it was me:shaking: so I changed sparkplug sockets to 1 with a rubber insert and still broke 3 more plugs. Why do you think they broke:confused:? The brand was Champion I'm not sure if that would matter. Hopefully we can pull it out and pressure wash it in the next week if the weather is good enough. Here is a few more pics.2.2.jpg

On saturday I test out the tranny and drive train it seemed ok. It shifted smooth in all gears and hi and low range. While I was pressure washing it I did notice the body mounts were alot worse than I thought(of course) when I bought it. After seeing the body mounts some of the stuff the PO told me made sense he had clutch rod and steering issues. I've threw a bumper together for the front out of 2" galvanized pipe. Pics coming soon.

GET THESE TO FIX YOUR CLUTCH LINKAGE. YOU WILL BE GLAD YOU DID.

What angle am I looking for here. Could the problem be fixed by lowering the tranny/T-case?

could but you'd be better off rotating the pinion up. Also, that looks like a front driveshaft being used for the rear! awful skinny for a rear shaft.
EDIT: nevermind, that's a front with drum brakes, oops

What's the blue car under the lean-to in the first two picts?

Lowering your t-case can help that angle, but it usually puts the u-joint on the t-case end in a bit of a bind. other options are turning the knuckles, get a super-flex ujoint from tom-woods, or just living with the fact that your u-joints aren't gonna last long.

I bought my linkage from 4wd.com (http://www.4wd.com/productdetails.aspx?partID=43814), it seems kinda expensive, but it comes with everything except a new bellcrank. If you've ever had your linkage break on the trail, you will know that this is a pretty good buy.

Cool project man! If you didn't buy it I was going to!

Thats my 1971 Dodge Dart Swinger that I've had for 25 years. It currently has a 360cid,4 barrel,727tranny and a dana rearend. Its a family member:lol:

??? How do I post the actual pic?? I have them on my computer and have posted them before. Some body help me out.

After you attach the files and close that window, click on the little paperclip icon above the text box. that lets you insert the pics into the body of the message.

Well I got the driver side almost finished. Here's what it looked like before and after3.2.jpg

The passenger side wasn't as bad. Here's as far as I got today I still have some trimming and welding to do.4.jpg

Now all I like is buying a few bolts and the body will be bolted down. Here's the passenger side.

I did have a helper tonight.

Here's some pics of the bumper I made. I cut down a cj front bumper and folded it around and welded my pipe to it, so I can take it off and on easy.

I guess I will be putting the fenders on and cutting them down in the next few days. I'm going to try make some flat fenders with 3/4" pipe on the under side.I'm not sure if I want to connect them to the front bar or radiator support.

I had more help today.
1.6.jpg
My son replaced all the body mount bolts. While he done that I repaired the grill support and bolted it down. Then we put the fenders on.
6.jpg
Then we marked each fender where we wanted to cut them back to. I'm not sure how I will like the flat fender look. I'm glad that I have extra fenders in case this turns to:poop:
6.2.jpg
Now that we marked both fenders its time to drag out the saw!

The fenders cut pretty easy. The 18t blades worked really well
6.3.jpg
After I knock all the burrs off we will start with the pipe work.
6.5.jpg
Finished cutting this side time to move to the passenger side
