1986 Dodge W150 Farm Truck

Still waiting on my lift to arrive, but at least it should be here tomorrow or Wednesday. I do however have these just about ready to go. The 4” lift I ordered says it’ll clear 35’s, but probably not with these 10” wide wheels and 12.5’s. I opted to keep it reasonable and went with some 33” BFG KM3’s. My kids chose these over TSL and Bogger. Kind of surprised me to be honest. All new paint, grade 8 bolts, stainless washers, chrome caps, and chrome lugs. Definitely way too nice for an old farm truck.

Pulled the farm truck back in the garage today to start the lift kit install. 35 year old rusty bolts ain’t cooperating. I’m through asking…. tomorrow the sawzall is coming out. I got all 4 beadlocks fully assembled and ready to go on.

I also managed to get these fancy Warn locking hubs installed. No more auto hubs and no more CAD!

And you have a snazzy new spare too! :D

Throw one of those stock drive flanges in the tool box. What did you do to the CAD?

When I deleted my stock cad thing a ma bob I just took the actuator off, flipped the fork around shifted the collar over and put it back together. Disconnect the vac lines and she's locked in.

Few battles fought and won today. Not gonna lie though, it’s kicking my butt up and down the street. Front passenger side is complete. It fought the least.

Couldn’t wait to see it with a wheel and tire on, so…..

The biggest battle today was with the rear shackles. Both sides had the bolt complete seized inside the metal sleeve. I spent all day yesterday messing with it. Today was straight to cutting. Got all the old mess removed. New shackles and bushings coming from Rock Auto. I’ll pick up new bolts tomorrow in town.

The last battle that continues to whoop me is the driver front. 3 studs have to be pulled out for the steering arm spacer. So far, they ain’t budging.

New shackles, new bolts…

Rear is complete. All spring and no more lift blocks.

3 out of 4 complete. Hard to get a good shot without the lift in the line of sight, but this’ll give you an idea on stance. I like it!

Farm truck is sitting on her own weight again. 4” Rough Country lift, all springs and no blocks. Stance is good, not squatted. I’ve got some oak 1x6’s drying in the barn. Till then, it’s time I turn my focus to making her run as good as she looks.

Sometimes it’s the little things that make me smile. The little holes in my hood were bugging me since day 1. Had to find an OE hood ornament. No plastic, made in China, BS for me.

That's worth at least 90 more HP, and 45 more pounds of torque!
