Metalcloaks in the front, rear is cut. Rear inner fenders are raised 3 inches to look like a stock tub (from the inside). Right now there is no flares.
Well I have the rusty, dirty Waggy 44s under the heep... I set my rear pinion pointing directly at my SYE output and I hope it will be ok. I cut the cast perches off the rear and reused them. I heated the axle tubes and the welded them on. This is my first attempt at welding and my welds look like shit but I got good penetration as far as I can tell. I had to buy a conversion u joint for the rear. I have 1/2 inch of travel left in my rear driveshaft at full droop I hope thats enough. I cut the front perch of of the passenger side front and welded it 1/2 inch inward. I filled the spring pin hole on the drivers side and then drilled it 1/2 inch inward. My front driveshaft has about 3/8 left to compress at full droop. I had to cut one of the spring pack clamps to clear the TRE.
I know Im rambling but a couple questions:
Is 1/2 inch of compression on the driveshafts left at full droop enough?
How would someone suggest I mount my steering? Ream the pitman arm or find a waggy arm?
Whats the preferred method to clean the axles and get them ready for paint?
What is the best all around paint for chassis and axles?
