If you need some help with anything hit me up. I am in Greenville and have done SFA conversions many times. Check out www.zr2usa.com for tons of S-Series SFA info.
^ Awesome man! This was my first one, i did about 2-3 years of research before i even started it! It was originally going to be conducted on my 1992 that i had, but it was rearended and totaled, which paid for the newer 96 with fewer miles! I used s10forum.com as most of my resources but had a ton of other help on other sites, including zr2usa! Where are you located in greenville? I currently live in riverwalk near ECU, but the rig is still in moyock. going home next weekend to finish up my tranny xmember modification and maybe attempt the exhaust with some flex pipe for a temp solution then ill be back to 4wd. I have only seen a couple of SFA rigs in greenville, one of them was a white zr2 with chevy fullwidths who was a friend of one of my good buddies that lives in grimesland.
I hear ya. This was my first one, and it is rough looking (previously discussed) but i know i will upgrade it as time goes on. We will have to meet up sometime and wheel!
Well i got it basically finished up, Oh and thanks to the a$$hole that put my rig up on pirate, Kinda shitty since this was a first build, and every weld has been re-done since i first started on it. Jerk.
Any ways i got the front drive shaft in, and tested it. Through my front bumper back on and gave her a test. I shortened the front shaft myself, and balanced it with some atf put in it. Ill have a longer slip shaft made up for it later. Anyways pics...
Still gotta work on my steering a bit. Its got a serious dead spot in the middle of it, and i tore the grease boot on the pitman arm in try to get it tightened enough. I guess the reem is different on the astro pitman arm? I need a small drop arm probably like a stock 2" drop wrangler arm or something. Donno, when i get some more cash ill play with it some more.
man i got a jeep wrangler with a d30 and a d35. i run 36 inch swampers and keep it to the floor and beat this thing. in five years only broke one shaft in the thirty but it was cause the u joint was bad and when it went it messed up the shaft. i really would try to do a spring over in front tho. also have some sway bar parts for it if needed.
Where in Riverwalk you livin man if your there again this year? I live of cypress view my roomate has the blue rubicon on 35s and my YJ will be there in a few weeks. All be there tomorrow.

I moved out of there, but will probably be over there a bit, one of my roomates from last year is still there. I think i have seen the Blue Rubion around. I lived off CV too, 3001 CV.
Update.... Trans is shot... Going to carry either the rig or the trans itself to Lee to have him rebuild it. I finally got my tires that I picked up off here on, still working on some rims(trans is more important so I can drive it!). Have a spartan locker waiting to go in and some large u-joint shaft from a tj at the same time.....
Went out with NCkrawlers out of Greenville to their playground and did some flexin... Pretty good for open/open!
And pics with the new-to-me TSL's (need wider rims!)
The transmissions on these trucks bring the suck big time. I went through 2 supposedly good used units before I got one that wasn't crap. I really like your truck man I was going to do a 60/14 swap into my bravada.
The 4l60e isn't a bad unit. It is great if it wasn't tuned to have super soft shifts from the factory. The first one lasted 155k, so I can't complain. Lee will get her going right with a full rebuild and shift kit (it already has a vette servo). I have this same trans in my tahoe with 160k and it doesn't slip a lick. Shifts nice and firm with the vette servo and the longer pin. If they would make them all come that way from the factory they wouldn't have a problem. Also, if Chevy would have put an external transmission cooler on these rigs, the temps wouldn't get up to ~190*~ and they would last longer.... But still, I cannot complain.
Hate revising an old thread, but is this thing still on the road? I have a 93 jimmy that I'm looking at doing the same thing to, just maybe doing bolt through frame to keep it lower
My blazer is identical to yours and I was thinking of doing a solid axle swap. How much of it was welding and how much was drilling? Also, where did you get the shock mount? I don't see it in the parts and I can't seem to find it online. If you could get back to me with details, that would be great.
