2 computers one motem

As an aside, if I can find it I have a spare one or six laying around.
Do you need/want wireless, or would wired be good enough.
(yea, I have both somewhere. I can look.)
:D

Don't really need wireless. Take a look & shoot me a pm.

Thanks

One added benefit of the router is that it provides an added layer of firewalling that is far more secure than anything on windoze

1.)A crossover cable between the two NICs would enable the computers to share information (crate a mini LAN between the 2 computers) but wouldn't allow for internet use.

2.)I was going to say something stupid like run 2 NICs in one computer and then connect the 2 computers with a crossover cable. And connect the internet to the computers with the 2 NICs and somehow use it as a server to provide internet access to the other single NIC computer. But the above post would make that redundant, and sort of upped the ante on the stupid part.

actually, most of the cable modems have 2 methods to connect the PC (ethernet and USB) so you wouldn't really need to have 2 NICs in one of the PCs to share ....having said that, you're better off getting a router for some small money ....it's more secure and you dont need to need to run PC1 to share internet to PC2
