I'm a student at UNCC and my truck has been broke into twice on or near campus twice since September. The culprits continue to punch my lock out and scavaenge through my truck while tearing everything up they can in the process. I have a remote start with a alarm(I'm assuming) but it didn't sound each time. What can I do to beef up my protection? This is why I leave my guns at home!

Better your lock than your grommet. Must be looking for leftover Monster cans.

I agree with Wes just leave it unlocked. Don't leave any valuables inside when I was at uncc they broke in my jeep once a month even stole my text books once. Good luck man

agreed with the leaving it unlocked thing. i spend a lot of time downtown. After having my windows busted out twice, ive just been leaving it unlocked. In the WJ, i had a lock box bolted in the spare tire area where i kept anything that needed locking up. out of sight from anyone wanting to get in and out quickly and locked up tight.

FYI just cause you have remote start doesn't mean you have an alarm, most are stand alone and just use the horn as a panic and to let you know its locked. If it is that much of a problem I would look into a good alarm with shock sensor and even a proximity sensor to try and deter them from messing with the truck, just make sure the installer knows how to set up the proximity sensor so it don't go off when someone parks next to you. Another good idea is to have them install a second alarm horn inside the truck that way if they do get in they will leave with a splitting headache.

Did ford not do a recall about this? To install something like the jimmyjammer?

A lot of guys on the power stroke forums swear by these. Ravelco Anti Theft Device It wouldn't help your truck from getting busted in to, but it would help prevent theft. I would like to get something like this, I'm just not too crazy about someone going all through my wiring harness. I would want to see one installed beforehand to know how they route the wires, make the connections, etc.

Any links to an alarm like this? Also would anyone be willing to install it for me on here?

Um, don't most Ford doors open when you pull the interior handle, even if it's locked? It's too easy to pry the door and use a J hook to grab the handle and it's open...

Screw that, get out of there and go somewhere else to school. That's ridiculous.

Fence charger hooked up to the body with a ground on the ground... That ought do it. Hide the off switch or lift ground prior to touching it yourself...

Park somewhere different.

These seem like petty thieves. You will never stop it unless you take your truck out of the situation, alarm or not.

Put one of those spy cams in your truck that will go off and alert your phone when someone breaks in to it. When you see who it is track that fucker down. Now take a piece of pump pipe and beat the shit out of him, next take you a good long log chain wrap him up and throw him in the back of the truck finally pull to the first over pass pull over wrap that chain around his neck wrap the other end around the bridge then knock him off to hang. Fuck a thief.

I was at work at food lion this time. Parked 4 rows away from the store. Took 25 seconds to get in and out.

Sounds like you've given this some thought.

Would probably get a Ticket for Littering, or something!

There used to be a lot of break ins, at the Mountain Island Boat Landing. LEO s recommendation was to leave Nothing in the vehicle, & open the glove box & consoles, showing no valuables.
It was basically a "smash & grab" deal. Insurance won't cover an unlocked vehicle.
