We picked up 3 beautiful trees this year. Charlie Brown would be proud!

Artificial for us this year. We are moving in on the first and wont have time to tend to a live tree. Plan on getting a real tree next year.

The wife went big with the fake trees this year. First time back in an actual house in a few years. She got home from Black Friday shopping at about 2am, and started putting up 7 trees the rest of the weekend. Dining room got a 9' 'display tree' (as my wife calls it), there's a 7.5' 'Family tree' in the main room, man cave got a 5' UT tree, playroom got a 5 footer too, then the master and guest master got one in each, and finally our kitchen nook rounds them out. I'm told she's buying some more after Christmas...not sure if they're replacements for next year, or if she's adding more. We have an agreement though, as long as I don't have to do anything but the stuff she can't reach, she can do what she wants.

Unfortunately for me it's artificial.Seems the branches on a real tree aren't strong enuf to hold up her Hallmark Ornaments.

Damn that’s more trees than Whoville has. Heck I bitch about decorating the top 1/3 of the 1 that we put up.

It's an evolutionary process. I 'forget' about it long enough, she figures it out. Then I don't have to do it in perpetuity. She learns something, she gets to do Christmas her way, and I get to chat on NC4x4...it's a win win for everyone, except maybe NC4x4.

Our middle child is the Christmas mouse. With HER now away at college the only one left is our baby-girl who's a Jr in HS. She's not nearly the ugly-sweater wearing, jingle bell loving freak that her older sisters is....so my wife and I are trying to decide if we can get away with a 3ft tall fake tree on a table in the corner

I'm really surprised at the results so far. I think real will make a comeback though.

We picked up the real deal yesterday at Greene tree farm northwest of Boone. One day I want to be a Christmas tree farmer, mainly for the location.

And there is no doubt that this is my kid:

I always vote real cause growing up our town collected them and then had a YUGE bonfire down at the harbor parking lot for the New Years celebration / count down. Fake trees don’t burn like a crispy dried out spruce or whatever your choice would be.

You go with the presidential 'Yuge' reference...but totally miss out on a chance to say 'down by the river'...kids these days.

real equals...sick as crap! Confined space and the tree make my allergies hit light speed. I take enough dope as it is. Shame, I love the smell of Conifers.

I’ll supplement my annual “bugs in the real Christmas tree” story from 2005 with some updates from the wife’s Facebook page. She saw some of her friends reporting this will be a bad year for bugs because of the warmer fall temperatures we saw. So, yesterday we pulled out the prelit artificial pine tree and set it up. After pulling out bulbs from here and there trying to get every section lit, then adding strands to cover the non lighting sections, we finally have something that looks decent. Hallelujah, holy sh!t where’s the Tylenol.

I could have gone that route but it’s down by the bay. No river involved sadly. Honestly I don’t think they even do it anymore cause too much booze, snowmobile shenanigans on Main Street, environment blah blah blah.

Where's the option for some of each?

We will probably go this weekend to pick out two real trees, one for the living room and one for the family room. Clear lights for one and multi-color lights for other. There's a table top fake tree with tiny ornaments for the kids' room and now we need a second for our big girl in her own room.

lol I logged on here just to cue you on this story.

Also where's @shawn and his video of the living room burning

Real tree here. Every year we go buy one from a guy named Bernie who sells them out of a local auto repair shop parking lot. To the point he recognizes my truck and talks about how big the kids have gotten. I don't think his prices have changed in 8 years.
Its sort of a family thing the kids always talk about, getting to pick out the tree.
Honestly we don't care so much about having a fancy tree in the house, its more about the family doing the process together.

So, for those with cats, How do you keep them out of the trees?

You don't... lol we use one real and one fake tree cat prefers the fake so I'm ok with it! Water bottle usually does the trick or kids water gun!

I have two 60+ lb dogs a 30lb pig and a mini cat inside,:shaking: trees usually end up not where I put em to begin with! Best solution is thin wire for ornaments wrapped tight so I don't have to pick em up haha real life! And extra Jim beam for the egg nog
