2019 GMC Sierra/Denali bed and tailgate

GM was making composite beds back in the 99-02 years on the regular old Silverados. I think the floor of the bed was still metal though, but I can't remember.

I guess they had to out do the Ford aluminum bed.

By not having a aluminum one they already had Ford beat.

As for the powered tailgates and what not, its just fluff to give them a reason to make the trucks cost even more. The price of trucks has gotten out of hand. Half ton trucks costing more than fully loaded 1 ton diesels did 10 years ago. Base model half tons cost more than the tricked out ones use to. To top it all off, even with the knowledge that full size trucks and SUVs are the most popular ones sold, it seems like they are making parking places smaller to cram in more, all the while we keep hearing how retail is suffering because of online sales, shit just doesn't add up!

Composite bed isn't new concept. Tacomas have had the option for a few yrs now atleast.

Seems nice that it won't rust, right until it cracks or busts from something sharp being dropped in it.

Ford Explorer Sport Tracs has composite beds ..... since 2001.
