2025 battery thread (I need a new one)

Lots of folks run only and promote only AGMs these days.

There is at least an intelligent debate and discussion over whether that's ideal. However ...deep cycle batts as cranking batts will unquestionably have shorter life cycles..

Agm won’t corrode, that’s worth its weight in gold for me as I have so much stuff that sits around. Corrosion travels too and kills wiring

Do you use die-electric grease on your DC connections? The only AGM I am using now is in a ATV. Everything else is regular batteries wet cell, and I do use die-electric grease on the connections, and zero corrosion issues.
The last Battery I replaced was the one in my Crawler, At the time, money was an issue. I bought a Rebuilt battery from O'Rielys, Price?... $40 lus tax. Wasn't really rebuilt, just re-stickered, as that's what they do with batteries that sit on the shelves too long, I think it's one year??? It was a truck battery, Turns the engine over faster that the previous 2 Duracell AGM's, they lasted me 6 years, purchased from Sam;s Club at $189, after tax and exchange. Granted, that was 8 years ago

Ummm….
AGM has the same acid just soaked into a fiberglass mat…

If a loose connection it will corrode and oxidize just the same.

AGM is better in harsh vibration environments - but it’s a worse transfer medium.
