Anybody have a ball park ideal of what is cost to have a 02 Common rail 24v 5.9 pump rebuilt?? Fuel at the pump but none getting to the injectors.

These pumps are shelved in nearly every diesel shop on the country. It's cheaper, faster and more reliable to just buy a replacement. Seems like thoroughbred diesel has the cheapest prices. I sell mine for around $1200 iirc (We've loaded up the whole shop and headed to Kansas city
- attending the vision high tech training ) .
Before replacing it verify supply pressure is a minimum of 10psi - ideally 14. Once the new pump is installed make sure that at wide open throttle it never drops below 10psi. There is a test possible where you standalone the pump to eliminate truck side issues such as ecm or powers and grounds.

This... You can buy the "bag of parts" kit but the cp3's are so particular you need to have your stuff straight. You would probably be better off buying one. I bought a lot of stuff from puredieselpower.com. they have a lot of factory and aftermarket parts.

He doesn't have a CP3, it's a VP44 truck.

Dodge didn't do common rail until 03....if it had a CP3 he probably wouldn't be having any issues with it :D

Is it common rail with cp3 or is it a vp44? If it's got 6 injector lines coming off the back, it's vp44 and probably is no good. I got one for one truck thru advance, they had them at the warehouse.. forgot how much it was, but it's going strong still two years later. Check fuel pressure! I'd install a gauge and a good lift pump if you're keeping it for you. Usually the lift pump dies and the vp44 continue to run the truck but dies slow death from lack of cooling fuel.. it'll continue to run and restart because it has enough suction to pull fuel from the tank once primed. Rotor seized in the one I did.

Beware, advance sells a cardone rebuilt pump. Had a customer buy 4 at $1800 to get one that would run. Much better options available!

They wern't terribly reliable. I'd vote you've got lower than acceptable supply pressures which will kill it quick. The problem is the pump will run with virtually no pressure what so ever as long as there's just a touch of volume. Any trouble codes?
