I think I am nearing needing to rebuild or replace the 6L90E transmission in my 2013 2500 Suburban. This is a family hauler so I want to do something before it leaves me on the side of the road stranded. 210k on the clock, original transmission. Starting to feel some rumble strips during acceleration and some hunting between gears.

This is uncharted territory for me, so talk to me like I am 5 and tell me if I should buy a full replacement or have my current one rebuilt and where should I go for whatever you recommend.

This is not extremely urgent but I want to be able to plan for it so I can save some coin and make arrangements for what I can assume will be a couple weeks of down time.

@Curtis_H could chime in I know his prior job used them a lot.
It’s been a few years since I left but my old job used Friendly transmission in HP a few times. They had great turn around times. As mentioned they usually had one already built and ready to go on the shelf. I took my old work truck in one afternoon and was able to pick it up the next afternoon. Far as longevity I can’t say I did not drive that truck long enough after to know how it held up.

Got a recommendation for Warren Transmission in Winston, anyone ever heard of them?

How much did shaggy quote you? $3500 if it could drive into the shop? $5000 if it has to be towed there?

I have called up there a couple times, never could speak with Shaggy, and the guy at the front seemed annoyed and not understanding what I was asking (he seemed confused I wanted to do this BEFORE it broke). I need to just ride over there
