Update: I standardized my sterling and got it back together.

Got a box in the mail from accutune.

Not quite ready to tear it apart yet. Pulled the truck in for some maintenance. Value cover gaskets, exhaust manifold gaskets, plugs, wires all that fun stuff.

Does anyone have recommendations for a transmission shop around Greensboro or asheboro?

I have a 2wd a340e right now and bought a cheap a340f 4wd trans.

Right now my options to convert to 4wd are;
Swap the output shaft from the a340f to my current trans, or swap my current valve body and torque converter to the older a340f 4wd trans.

I could probably do either one here, but not super confident about diving into an auto transmission. I’d like to at least try to get an estimate on a rebuild and swapping the output shaft.

Had a little bit of time to work this weekend. Made a decent pile of parts.

Moved the axle under the truck to get an idea on what needs to be moved and how much. This diff/truss is huge and takes up a ton of space. Waiting on rear sump oil pan to get a better idea of where things will sit.

Still waiting on the oil pan. I wanted a way to mount the coilovers behind the axle so I can build my bump pads off the truss. May be getting ahead of myself, so I’ll leave these tacked on for now.

Got a rear sump pan put on. The axle truss and oil pan where never going to be friends, so the truss got a little modification. I drew up a new front frame section, and now waiting on that to get lazer cut.
In the meantime I built some new jackstands to raise the truck up more and get the frame leveled out.

The last pic will hopefully be about an inch or two higher than actual ride height. Im shooting for 5” up travel, and trying my best to keep it low. Already planning to raise the motor a touch when the frame is redone. The motor mount and upper link mount look like they will be close so I’ll probably need to change those up a bit too.

New frame rails cut out. Started getting them together today.
Goal is to have the new frame section tacked on and motor mounts set this weekend, but we’ll see.

Had some time to make my Toyota/poly motor mounts. I got the frame rails tacked on last week and spent some time today making sure everything was square and level before burning them in.
Motor mounts tacked in place.

I guess next big step will be figuring out the trans. Then I can mount the tcase and work on a cross member.

@Will miller came by and helped get the transmission out. Decided I’m going to swap valve bodies/ torque converter and plugs to try and make everything work.
1st time diving into an automatic, so a little nervous.

Dove into the transmissions today. Decided I should throw a sonnex zip kit in the valve body while I had it out.
Changing the valve bodies was pretty straightforward. Instructions were clear on the zip kit. Everything went pretty well I think, until I had to dress my transmission up like a kill room… went to Install the valve body and something didn’t feel right. The newer housings are milled to clear the shift solenoid, that was new information to me. Que the plastic and burr bit. It’s all in there now. Hopefully everything works.

@Van-go and @Will miller came by last weekend and helped get the trans and t-case in. Focusing on crossmember and frame side link mounts next.
I have never played with the link calculator before and most of these numbers mean nothing to me. Some of these inputs are guesstimated, but achievable I believe.
What can be improved?

Just a hacks opinion, but when working with a framed full body rig and not starting from scratch, 10lbs of shit in a 5lb bag is going to go where it is going to go and the calc is more of a rule of thumb.

You are not wrong. I don’t plan on making any drastic changes or diving too deep into it. I do have some adjustability in link separation and track bar height though.
I don’t know enough to know if changes one way or the other would make any noticeable difference in the end.
