Let me tell you it SUCKS putting a motor in by yourself! A second set of hands would have saved me at least an hour. Old age doesn’t help anything either. But, engine is in, finally!!
Well, finally got it started and running. The 4bbl to 2 bbl did not work had major air leak under carb and just would not idle at all. Found an old Edelbrock 4bbl on the shelf and put in on. Surprisingly it worked, or appears to anyway. Need to put on fan shroud and exhaust. Getting closer.
Finished up some wiring detailing, installed fan shroud, tightened up a couple of hose clamps that were not tight enough once engine was up to operating temp, drained water and added coolant, set timing, installed exhaust crossover pipe. Still need to get a muffler and some pipe to finish up exhaust. Also need to pick up a power steering belt which I keep forgetting to do.
Another vid of it running just because lol
Looking good Steve, Nice neat job! That engine sure sounds like it'll do well in what ever you get it into, even if it's just the road. Oh and BTW, Don't forget the belt today, Just head out now at Lunch and get it!
